I liked this bar. Visited NYC with a couple friends. Went in during happy hour and got $1 beers. Did 5 shots of Jack Daniels for $10 bucks but the shots were small and weak. Planning on going back.

To begin with, this is not some exclusive, "celebrity only", semi-private lounge that requires a password to get in. Instead, it is the quintessential idea of a DIVE BAR. Nasty, stinky, dont wanna touch anything, DIVE. So when I went with a few co-workers (mixed races) one evening I was surprised that the black security guards refused to let in all the guys with hoodies on. Curiously enough, all the guys with hoodies also happened to be black and dressed exactly like the bodyguard who denied their entry. As we stood there, trying to negotiate the entry of the whole group, I couln't help but notice the half-dozen white guys lining the bar, all wearing hoodies, torn jeans and flip flops. They must have slipped right by security.....No? HELL NO, I will never go back! BOYCOTT INSTEAD!

I totally agree with the previous review. The owner of the club stands outside with the bouncers, and whispers to them as patrons approach, and makes the decision whether or not they will bu admitted. I believe that it is more than chance, that minorities are denied entry more that 75% of the time.

I had a very upsetting experience at this bar. I am a white female in my late 20's and i had decided to go to the Continental Bar for drinks with some friends which are African America and Filipino that were very well dressed. When we go to the entrance I was the first in line let in no problems or questions and when i proceeded to walk in i noticed that the security at the door tells them they weren't allow in because of supposedly a regular's night only (IM NOT A REGULAR...)and THAT WAS NOT THEIR CROWED!!!! I turn around to tell security that they were with me and they refused their entry... By whom I had assumed to be the owner. They were very rude and surprisingly RACIST. Its sad that racism came from the African American bouncer at the door. Why would you even what to continue working for someone who does not accept your kind and the color of your skin! Its a shame DON'T GO ..

Use to go all the time... me and my best friend. I use to ignore the current comments of the place turning racist. Then I saw them turn away my friend and other black men last night. They use the excuse "regulars only". Yet I got in no problem, the only difference was the color of my skin. Didn't stay. True the drinks are slightly cheap... but do i really want to be around frat boys? I think i rather pay the extra dollar for my beer and avoid the vomit splatters.

Homophobic and racist establishment. I don't know how those water down shots still have them on business. Don go there. I was able to get in when i went the 1st time . The second time I went outside to smoke a cigarette and they told me to get my stuff and leave, mind you i had just ordered a round of shots.

Avoid this bar. the bouncers are rude and it is safe to assume, racist. I have seen them deny people on the basis of their 'relaxed fit' pants being too "baggy". the difference between the people I saw get denied was skin color. However after a minute of walking in myself, I learned the bouncer may have done the 'rejected' a favor. The staff was rude, the crowd looked to be underaged or just freshly legal, and the place smelled like a mixture of alcohol, urine, and body odor.

The bouncers were rude. The drinks were watered down. I did a couple rounds of 5 shots for 10 dollars with my friends. I had six shots of "tequila" and was not even a tiny bit drunk. That was not tequila. I don't know what it was.......but if I go to a bar and order alcohol I expect to be served alcohol.

On Saturday, April 11, 2009 I was out celebrating my birthday with friends (4 Black guys, 3 Jewish girls). Each guy had on slacks. I had gone to Continental several times before and never had a problem. The ladies cleared the 3 black bouncers. I went next and with some concern, they let me in, however, they refused to let in my 3 buddies. I asked why and they said their pants were too baggy. After I pointed out several people inside with jeans, they said they "knew them". Keep in mind, these patrons were white and Asian. They finally said they couldn't come in because they didn't know these guys. One Bouncer said, " we got our limit of 5 already." I found this very disturbing, especially coming from 3 other Black males. I plan to boycott this place.
