have had ridiculous amounts of fun at this place (2004/5 : it seemed the obvious answer to the location of the afterparty for every rock show), ruined a coat on the rough brick. drank too much red stripe & confessed to strangers. hugged rock stars. messy but safe. great bartender-related graffiti. would depend on the night, would have to be an afterparty.

Dark Room NYC is a horrible place, where I will never go back. The bouncers are rude and feel that they can grab your arms whenever they like. I have bruises on my arms where the bouncer grab me. Absolutely unacceptable.

had to wait in line forever because we didn't have the right girl to guy ratio (even though the one girl we had was really hot). the bouncer was a smug little man on a power trip. our friends that had the misfortune of going in said the place wasn't even full so there was no need to make anyone wait outside in the first place. also the music sucked.

Went here for a bday party, and the bouncer proceeded to take some of the girls' purses from our area to "teach us a lesson". Had we not come to get it, would he have returned it?!??! I think not!! How does someone justify STEALING as looking out for thei customers??? Plus the place was EMPTY and they made us HOLD OUR JACKETS because????

This bar is horrible. Besides being ridiculously dark and poorly set up, the bar employs workers who are extremely rude--and thieves, apparently. I was there for a friend's birthday party, and there were about 20 of us in my group. My friend and I left our stuff on a bench with another friend for a few minutes, and when we came back, our coats and purses were gone. After freaking out, we discovered that a bouncer had "collected" our things in order to "clear up space" for people to sit on the bench. When our friend tried to stop him, he ignored her. We were forced to pay the coat check in order to retrieve our coats, and when our purses were returned to us, my digital camera was missing from mine. Not only were all of the bar's workers completely rude about the situation, but management refused to do anything about it. Absolutely NOT recommended!

the music gets better later at night. it is usually very crowded at the weekends that you sometimes even cannot find a place to dance. nice spot for singles who want to mingle. you can see guys in hoodies or in heans and shirts, suits are rare to find,.....as in their name, it is dark, so people feel free to dance and do other stuff, even stealing bags. overall, it is nice, and worth to check out.
