My girlfriend and I get there at 10:30pm. It’s a little odd that none of the regular bartenders are there, just 2 blondes. I order a Guinness. it’s busier then usual. Not the normal crowd, whatever… it’s the holidays. 20mins, 30mins… 3 Guinness are poured, one of the blonde bartenders rings a bell I didn’t even know existed and gives them away… okay… the other pours 2 more lighter beers then gives those away… what the?… when did this become a gramcery or murray hill bar (which I lived in a yr ago…) I’m on 36 beers in the Guinness club and will probably stop there. What happened?

Poor pours and not a buyback in sight--I'd gone to The Dead Poet several times but after a while figured it's just not worth it. There are plenty of bars on this block where the bartenders are less stingy. In poetic terms, The Dead Poet is a cheap haiku.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
