One of my favorite haunts in the west village! Took some friends from the mid west a few weeks ago, and boy we're they blown over! Lovely staff, and people from all walks of life! Especially liked the bartender Matt.. he reminded me of Christian Siriano from Project Runway Fame.. FIERCE!

Awful place 1)30 min before we got asked about a drink (and we need to call), then we had to take them ourselves but lightning-fast soon after we took drinks the waiter came to ask for money (better if they have been so fast in coming when we seated!) 2)no frozen cocktail, no Mojitos..... 3)expensive 4)very small place, if you stay on the chair there is always someone that need to pass bothering you 5) dirty NEVER AGAIN

I have been taking friends to the Duplex since 1990. The place has a lot of really cool history to it and is a landmark institution in the West Village. And it just keeps getting better and better. Apparently the place is under new ownership and the changes are fantastic! The bathrooms are completely redone (thank God!) the upstairs bar has been totally renovated with comfy seating and space to hang out without feeling cramped. This past summer we spent almost every Friday night in the (also newly renovated) outdoor cafe. But while all that is great, my friends and I really go for the people. The staff is so friendly and the other customers are so nice that it makes it a really fun place to hang out. Keep up the good work guys!

The Duplex is by far the best piano bar in the city. The wait staff is extremely talented and the patrons are a very friendly group who enjoy having a great time together. Check it out! The new management never stops improving the place, although it is already pretty perfect as it is!

My wife and I love this place. In fact this is where we met! Because the Duplex is SO fun and the staff is so genuinely nice, we both became regulars (independently) and eventually met and the rest is history! The only complaint I ever had about the place was that the bathrooms needed some TLC. But they have recently been completely renovated! This is our favorite spot year round but especially in the summer with the outdoor cafe and the frozen drinks. Always a wonderfully interesting and very pluralistic crowd. That's really the best thing about the Duplex. People from all walks of life and every persuasion sitting side by side and having a blast!
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
