I love this place because during the day, I can come by with my dog and have a drink mid-walk; lots of kids during the day too. At night, my husband I love to go to dinner there for its tasty no-frills lobster or clam bake and get a bucket filled with ice and a six-pack of Coronas to avoid spending time waiting at the bar. It's a transporting experience--more like the eastern shore, or Cape Cod, than Chelsea. It's a rustic maritime scene--gritty, real and friendly.

There is NOTHING else in NYC that is like this place.... the downside is that it closes at midnight. But the upside is, there is a million other bars in NYC you can run to after! Start your night here though.. it is so much fun!

The food was delicious, we had a pound of Little Neck clams (21 pieces) and mussels (29 pieces), a cranberry vodka (heavy on the vodka) and a Checker Cab Pale Ale came out to about $30 well worth it for very fresh seafood and drinks. The views are awesome, it does get a little chilly later on so bring a jacket. The only slight negative are the helicopters landing and taking off about 90 yards away but it's not too loud. Overall a 9.5.

"Wow, it's like we're on a cruise ship!" I blurted out. Well maybe not. Surely the lightship is a cat of nine lives. In its current morphed state, the hot spot serves drinks and food, features live bands and hosts dance parties. If its seaside quiet you seek, go in the afternoon or early evening to enjoy a bit of nyc's maritime past. excerpt from www.chatterbox-cafe.com/page3.html

...than right on a dock? I love this bar. It's easily one of my favorite summer spots in NYC. The service can be a little slow, but probably because it's just so jammed all of the time. Their garlic french fries are awesome!

It was just ok, went for a birthday with a large group of people for the first time. more on the pricier side ($8 beer night right), but it had its own niche in the bar world being on a boat and all, so cool in its own way. However, the night got a little sour with the bum bouncer in a super mario t-shirt, shorts, and haggard chrome Jordan's absolutely refused to let one person in for our party, so the 30 or so of us ended up leaving. as we left he even acted less professional than he was dressed, after myself telling him to have a "nice f'ing night" he actually followed me across the west side highway to try to get me in trouble with cops who were in the middle of a traffic stop... they had more important things to deal with, and knew he was full of it when they realized i wasn't even drunk. needless to say, i'll never go back there, its sad when a business has such a beautiful place and a single employee makes you hate the place and never want to go back. Ended up checking out the bars on little west 12th street, luckily the night rallied back and we had a great time.. no thanks to the frying pan though.

If you want terrible customer experience from unprofessional and rude bartenders and managers who don't care about service, then frying pan is the place for you. Be prepared to be mocked, disrespected, and bullied by the worst service I've ever had from any bar in new york city.
