I was shopping in Chelsea the other day and happened to walk past g bar. It was Friday and I was meeting a friend. But on Saturday my boyfriend and I felt like going bar hopping and I thought of g. We started out there, and I'm really glad we did. I stopped going a while ago because the crowd was getting a little "rough" for my taste. But what a 360! I don't know what happened, but I loved the crowd. The men were hot, friendlier than I remembered, and the music was a-mazing. It's a beautiful bar and they still make the best Cosmos I've tasted anywhere. We planned on having just a few drinks but stayed for most of the night.

One of the most attractive bars in the city for sure but the rather awkward layout means it's not navigible if there's the slightest crowd. And heaven forbid you should ask anyone to let you pass by -- your request will be greeted with a sneer, rolling of eyes and turning away. Which is not to say they will actually move. If you are a pretty fashionista obsessed with looks and gym-toned bodies, this is the place for you. If you are any other type, go elsewhere; you're not welcome here. The staff, however, is usually efficient and friendly while being professional. If you must go, then go when it's dead. At least with your drink you will get a nice smile and some friendly words from the bartender, something you are unlikely to get from fellow patrons.

The other review is correct about the great martinis, but that's all this place has to offer. It's a haven for pretentious twinks and their companions. Just about everyone seems to be modeling waiting to be discovered by some producer. Music is OK but not spectacular.

"g" gives the most-famous bars in the city a run for their money when it comes to the perfect martini: the last one I had at g was perfectly chilled, with just the slightest hint of slithered ice, making the medicine go down in a most delightful way!
