The Gaf is the only bar I've come across in NYC where the service and the clientele are equally superb. I've been a "Gaffer" for years now and the bartenders are the best at what they do as well as being great friends. They serve a wonderful pint of Guinness and are some of the best darts players this side of the pond. For an honestly friendly, down-to-earth good time...the Gaf is the place to be.

We visited Gaf one Thursday after work and had a great time. I'm not a darts player, but there was a group of people having a rockin' good time in the corner. The one thing I didn't like was the dearth of tables. It made it hard to have conversation with the group. But after a few drafts we moved downstairs to the basement where there are a couple of tables. It was dark, empty and smelled of fresh paint, and we were able to sit together and have a conversation. And the music on the jukebox? A perfect soundtrack with songs that everyone knows the words to.
