we were there the night before the fourth... music was great, booze is not too pricy but that place was packed with groups of d-bags...

I made the mistake of choosing this bar for my 34th birthday gathering. I thought that with this tight economy, the Gallery Bar would appreciate my business: bringing 10 people, ready to spend money on drinks Friday night, after a long work week. But instead of being appreciated, I got a scolding from the smug girl who was carrying around the clip board and pen, denying people entry. That was after getting kicked out of two seating areas, which they claimed were reserved, but there were no reserved signs posted at these areas. I guess they're only interested in doing business with groups of people who are getting bottle service and racking up huge tabs. The crowd was sparse when I first got there, but slowly filled in a bit with young, bridge and tunnel groups. The bar tenders had the warmth and hospitality of the average NYC yellow cab driver. It's a bar with great potential, and from what I hear, it had once reached at least some of that potential. I wouldn't be surprised if that place doesn't exist this time next year.

We went to gallery bar for a friends birthday party. They had rented out the entire top section and we were on the guest list. When we arrived at 11:30 there was at least a 30 minute line that was just for private parties. After waiting in the line we got in only to see that the bar was half empty. Would not recommend it if you plan on having any of your friends actually being able to get in to your bday party.... and honestly wouldn't recommend it for anything else either. Don't force people to stand in line just so your bar seems cool...

Although the music was great, the staff and bartenders were extremely rude. I went to the bar and asked for a club soda which was $3. I figured since I was spending money anyway I might as well get a cocktail. I asked how much it would be for a vodka club. The bartender replied, "Vodka Club is $7." She brings over a shot of vodka and says "ten dollars." She was going to make me buy them separately because she already poured the club soda. She was so rude about it. I told her to forget the shot and I just paid for my club soda. Not only did she lose a tip, but the bar also lost a potential customer. I'll never go back. I didn't care about spending $10 for a drink. It's the principle. If you like to be treated like garbage, then it's your kind of place.

I came here to celebrate my birthday with a large group of friends and will never return after the way we were treated. On 3 separate occasions, the same bus boy intentionally spilled buckets of water/beer/alcohol on myself and other members of my party. I understand it's a crowded bar, but this bus boy made threats and then proceeded to drench people in this beer/water- these were not accidents. The bouncer even had to kick the bus boy out for being rude and obnoxious. Then another friend went to the bar to get a shot and was given a shot with a piece of glass in it!!! Luckily he only cut his mouth and didn't swallow it! To top it all off, Gallery included a gratuity fee on the bill for each bottle we bought and then demanded that we tip them again on top of that! Bottom line - Go somewhere else and do not let this place ruin your night.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
