Visited here several times from out of town - always laid-back waitstaff, good cheap food and unique, tasty seasonal beers.
I Love the Smiling Pumpkin Ale

What's not to like at Heartland Brewery on Union Square? From the staff to the location it's a great place to stop for a couple of beers in a relaxed atmosphere. As someone who enjoys craft brews I was impressed with the Smiling Pumpkin Ale and my date enjoyed her tower of apps. So many beers to choose from...so little time. I think I'll try their dominatrix beer next time if only I could remember the name.

I celebrated my 21st birthday in New York City in October 2009 (i am from Montreal, Canada) and I saw the add in New York Mag a few days before my birthday bash and I decided I would host it there and I had a great time! The staff is great, the bartender (whose name I forgot) was great also. We even had a few drinks on the house for my Birthday! Truly a GREAT Bar and everytime I am able to head to NY, I have to stop by!
