The doorman scam people along with the bartenders and servers. If you are asked for your credit card at the door, rest assured they will steal from you and scam you. Hey Greg briar, you should be ashamed of running an empire like this one scamming people. Oh by the way, I personally saw bartenders poor water in bottles in the back. People should refrain foam going to this place. Be aware of promoters, they bring young guys there to scam them. Sho Chinese girl with blue contacts also ine the scams, so is the tall gay bartender who works Fridays.

Friend was having a private mid day party there, thought I would check out the NYC scene from on top...but my bubble burst when I got there...VERY surprised I had to transverse through a black walled labyrinth of what looked like a hotel basement, sort of confused as i made my way to what ended up someones office?? finally founnd the elevator ( i think i wonder what waits for me on top?)...yeah not mind blowing to say the least....looks like my Back yard Connecticut Atrium..its all cozy and simple and the bar is just like any other....staff was friendly for some parts, REALLy late in firing up the BBQ..., but the VIEW is what makes it worth it all... Very surprised that this comes from the some people at Amalia....now there is a nice place. Wont be back for sure, not worth the elevator ride (which makes frequent stops on several floors..apparently it also doubles as the SERVICE elevator for the hotel staff, so you get to see a lot of bed linens on the way up too). You have been warned.

From the moment the doorman asks if you're on the guest list you know it's up itself. He let us in anyway... Once you meander through a series of dank stench ridden pasageways to reach the elevator you already know it can't be that special. Surly bar staff are definately not up to the usual NYC standard. Atmosphere comfortable and interesting seating but best enjoyed with a group of mates or for a private party. Not very intimate if you're going as a couple or as a romantic date.

Let's be honest, this place tries way too hard to be exclusive and fails miserably. You'd think I was doing THEM a favor by spending money at their place. The crowd was lame and ultra-douchetastic (matched the staff). The cocktails were the one bright part, overpriced but very good.

The worst experience I ever had in a bar... Feels like they are doing you a favor when letting you in, a few huge males loaded with testosterone are spread along the long way in, one wrong word or move and you are out... The only drink I had before I left was the worst mojito I ever had (also the most expensive...). I had a contact with one waitress and one bartender, both where rude and impolite (seriously, I'm not talking about not smiling, I'm talking about a waitress who pushed my lady friend since she was on her way to the bar and a bartender who told me with anger "this is the way I do mojito, if you want to replace it, go upstairs" when I told her it has a wired taste...) This was the first and last time for me in this place

I was in NY for a week earlier this month on a business conference from India . So I go to this place with my friend who works in Ernst & Young NY office. The door policy - bottle commitment was fine with us till we saw it was applied selectively.. The manager is a real clown with his rude behavior to paying customers ... I could not believe these guys when they did not let another friend who came later ( Indian working with EY itself) and the manager was very rude in his behaviour and I could really feel this anti asian thing ... We questioned his rude attitude and were told to leave after paying...this was fine with us since that was the obvious choice we had to make ...I was having a great time in NY till we went inside Highbar ...Oh and to top it all off , this place has really bad seating and I think it is small too...unnecessary hype ....avoid..
