i showed up with a bunch of my girlfriends and bouncer just had to hassle us from the moment we got there. why i still don't know - wasn't crowded and we were dressed right. i guess it's just no fun for those guys unless they create some controversy & make it appear they're necessary at uncrowded bars. whatever...waitress was cool and that helped make up for the attitude though nothing really going on at the place.

Meh...nothing to write home about

yes, the place is pretty. cool decor, nice open feel...but I couldn't get past the 80 year old man grinding with the 23 year old...very wannabe crowd as someone else mentioned. And the bouncer gives you hardest time at the door for no real reason....claims you have to buy a bottle...I think not! Music was kinda all over the place, i.e., Journey, Stupid Jersey Anthem- Shots, Shots, Shots I guess DJ wasn't sure whom to cater to...I had a good time because that's what I do when I'm out with friends, but I am not recommending it as a cool spot or even for a celebration. There are many of nice lounges and party spots.

Great Atmosphere

Liked this bar. It was relaxed enough and the crowd was mixed. The music was so-so and the drinks were a bit steep, but hey, this is New York, what do you expect?

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

The "bouncer" at the front bar area of the hotel (not to be confused with Library at the back area) was so rude to my friend who happened to be wearing flip flops, and wouldn't let her into the bar. Now, I can understand certain establishments having a dress code, but this is the Hudson Hotel, not 1 Oak, not Tenjune, and certainly not fancy by any means. Further, she wasn't dressed sloppy or unprofessional. And what really made me upset was that there were several other girls in the bar area wearing flip flops. If you're going to enforce a ridiculous dress code, at least do it uniformly. Its too bad that the service was so awful, b/c I liked the decor and the drinks were good.

Good...but...

Great bar, music, drinks and decor. Crowd is hip and beautiful. Loved the vibe, and had a great time. The negs? WAY WAY WAY overpriced. $16 for a drink? What a rip. Also, I was able to get into the bar without a problem, but when the rest of my party showed up an hour later the bouncer wouldn't let them in. They needed a "reservation" to come into a bar less than 50% full (I.E. Bottle Service). We laughed and went next door to Stone Rose.

this place may have been trendy and chic. Today it is just another nicely decorated bar full of wanna-bes and the service is arrogant (just looking a bit gorgeous and working in a bar is not much of an accomplishment). At least the music was quite alright and people were dancing all over the place which contributed to a great party feeling.

A real great time

Upon entering the strange and alluring Hudson Hotel, I wasn't sure what to expect. Finally standing in the lobby wondering how do I enter the bar... ah there it is behind those velvet ropes and those unplesant looking doormen. I approach and no sweat my friends and I are inside checking out the scene and what a scene it it. The energy is amaizing, the people an eclectic mix of cool, avant garde types, and I feel like I am home! drinks will run you a pretty penny but the ambiance and experience are well worth it. Hudson Bar has the right mix of glamour, mistery and cache to keep it going.
