I walked into JIMMY"S CORNER and what a refreshing change.i come from newcasle upon tyne great britain. .JIMMYS is the best bar in NY.great music.great cold beers.everyone very friendly.JIMMY looked after me and was a great host.down to earth.nothing was to much bother.staff were great.loved it so much was there for 4 nights in a row on my vacation in NY.talked to local guys from new jersey, queens. bronx, and also people from pennsylvania, canada, you could not find a more welcomed bar in NY.its not a 5 star bar.prices for drinks very fair. but has more character with all the legends boxing pictures on the walls.and all walks of people from all over the world. that there first place for a drink if they come back to NY is JIMMY"S CORNER.i will visit jimmys again because its the genuine feel of the place with the people that make it the BEST BAR in NY and i have drank in quiet a few bars around the world in my time.thanks again jimmy from neville x

Its a favorite spot everytime I hit NYC on business or pleasure. You can always count on a great conversation, seeing or meeting new friends, the coldest beer in Manhattan and classic tunes. Its perfect when not too crowded but thats the downside of a legendary bar that has held its appeal for decades -- not too flashy, not too extravagent, just one great time.... and then theres Jimmy, No one makes you feel more welcome or makes sure your taken care of -- Its like coming in to his home and your always welcome. My son turns 22 on sunday, doing a summer internship on Wall Street and the drinks are on me -- I know he'll be stopping in to Jimmys Corner for a few cold ones with his buddies! Happy Birthday Son, Jimmy will take great care of you!

I started coming to Jimmy's Corner while stationed with the Coast Guard at Governors Island beginning in 1982. I have travelled all over the world in the service, and as a merchant seaman. I have never been to a better bar anywhere thanks mainly to Jimmy Glenn (a true boxing legend), but one of the nicest down to earth people anywhere. I always enjoy staying til closing to hear Sinatras New York, New York and Kate Smiths God Bless America on the juke box. If you cannot enjoy this place you are a stick in the mud, and what a bargain!

Jimmy's Corner is a rarity in Midtown: an establishment that has kept its original flavor regardless of the "cleaning up" of the city. This is not a dive as much as just a real, old school bar. Classic rock, beer and bourbon, and sports. This is a bar's bar. I don't know what the previous reviewer's problem was with Mr. Glenn, but he has always been very nice to me when I have seen him. If I ever find myself in Times Square and need a quick pint, this is THE place. Go, but don't tell anyone. It's remarkably idiot-free, an oasis in Times Square, and everyone would like to keep it that way!

We stumbled on this bar which was opposite our hotel. The bar staff were extremely welcoming and Jimmy proved an exceptional host with his recollection of boxing greats and his general good humour. Here is a true gentle giant and a gentle man! This bar is steeped with boxing history and its juke box is one of the best soul and classic blues I have ever come across. People will class it as a dive but if you want to experience the genuine New York hospitality then you must give it a go. It is basic but genuine and has HEART & character!! The prices are affordable and I thought it was the DBs!! We certainly will want to return to this little peice of NY & boxing history. Thoroughly recommended!!

We discovered this bar on our second visit to New York when we walked out of an 'Irish Bar' in Times Square and headed back home to the Algonquin - if it hadn't been on the same street we'd have missed it. What a find. It had everything for us - seriously good jukebox, cool atmosphere and staff, fabulous pictures on the walls, reasonable prices, unpretentious, old regulars, young regulars, some business types, no tourists (apart from us). Became our regular bar after the first night. And Mr Glenn was the icing on the cake. What a gent and what a storyteller. I'd never heard of him before so I'm not starstruck, just thought he was a nice bloke and a good host! Would go back the minute we get back to New York (hopefully) even if we don't stay at the Algonquin along from there. We loved it.

I've been to Jimmy's a couple of times, but it is such a great place. Great prices, great people, great attitude, great location! I'm not really a sports person, but you don't need to be to go hang out at a sports bar. I definitely recommend this place to everyone who visits NYC. It is the real spirit of NY.

Get out of the crush and attitude of the other bars and have a COLD beer at Jimmy's. Great photos and Jazz jukebox. Friendly staff, Jimmy's usually there, make sure to talk to him if you are a fight fan. He trains boxers at the local gym. Regulars, fans, and some tourists drinking and yakking, good prices. I'm in NYC often and regularly at Jimmy's.

Jimmys has to be the most welcoming bar in NYC, everybody gets a hello from jimmy himself & made welcome whether you want 1 drink or to stay all night. The bar staff are quick & always make sure you have a fresh cold beer on the bar. If you want a drink without all the attitude of other bars then you have to go to Jimmy's.
