While it won't be receiving any awards for its decor, Lederhosen is a great spot for small groups looking for good German draft beer and above average German comfort food. Both food and drink are resonably priced. Even when it can be heaving on a Friday night, the waitresses are definitely trying their hardest, especially in the cramped front room. One minor complaint - would be great if they got some more unusual and original drafts over from Germany. Those they have are the classics, but possibly a bit over-exposed.

Being German and living here in the NY I was concerned about what to find. Well I found what I am missing in many bars in the City, a well drafted beer in an unpretentious environment. Granted the service is not always up to the "Hi, my name is .... and I am your waitress for tonight" standards (better go to Friendly´s - pun intended). Granted the food is more an American adaptation of Brezel and Weißwurst. So be it, it is still the best you will find this side of the Atlantic, a long way to München. Looking for a good time without spending a fortune, this is your place.

Loved the beer and food. Service was excellent. Would recommend this place for a large group. Festive spirits are encouraged. Also, would recommend for a first date. Lots to look at and talk about. Great find hidden in the West Village

Lederhosen's whimsical name goes with the whimsical decor. Sit by the fireplace in the winter to warm up with a mug and/or stick to your ribs food. You can order your beer in different sizes and shapes but all you need to know is that they all hit the spot! Chase it down with a chilled Jagermeister. I wish I had a Jagermeister machine in my kitchen...er maybe not! Fridays are a big night topped up with a friendly hipster crowd. If you are looking for a quieter evening, try Sundays! This place is great. Cute little bar right in the front, leads right into a decent sized room in the back complete with picnic tables and lederhosen hanging from the cieling. Not to mention the huge mural of the alps on the back wall. The spaten keg is great, but $9 for a liter of HB beer is ridiculous in Manhattan. Especially, since an equal amount of beer at some other lame place would be 3 times as much. Plus the glass is so heavy it counts as a workout each time you lift it. This is a plus since the food is good and heavy. The saurbraten is awesome and the spaetzle is great too. Take some friends and don't plan on driving anywhere later.
