Drinks are very overpriced and can only be described as the worst NYC has to offer. I have had better drinks at a truck stop upstate. Service was incredibly rude. The guy grabbed my dollar tip right out of my hand, and did not thank me. Crowd was like being on a subway car---totally random, unattractive, bland people all looking pretty sour. Big space nearly empty on a Thursday night. Guy at the door acted like he was working a club, instead of some no-cover bar. Such a ridiculous place.

This bar has gone through a major transformation since last I went there. The new management team and owners have successfully softened up the feel. Designers now transform the place with every new season, the sound system is awesome, and you can now hideaway with your date in the draped, cushioned private booths. Hip Hop parties are a thing of the past, and each weekend is greeted by a host of people celebrating their birthday parties. Ok, I admit it. I'm a regular at M1-5. So I can tell you, that the only thing that reminds me of the old days is the pool table and the name. I recommend to anyone that wants to be treated like a customer, instead of an intruder to come here.

Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
