Like being in Italy...

Would I take a date? No, my wife wouldn't let me. What's that question got to do with fine dining? Anyway, putting aside the current feelings about the French, two weekends ago we went to a French restaurant,were served average food at outrageous prices. The next weekend we went to Manducatis on the word of a friend. Needless to say at Manducatis we were made to feel like old friends. Vincenzo introduced himself and his warmth and friendliness put the French dining experience in perspective. We ordered 'off the menu' and were delighted by each surprise as it was brought to the table. The overall dining experience (including a visit to say hello to Ida in the kitchen) was like eating at any great family run restaurant in Italy. Be prepared to be completely bowled over by the extensive and moderately priced wine list. Can you take back a review? We went back a second time and ordered from the menu, first the menu was mundane, second the food was just OK. So I guess, you have to order Off the menu, i.e., tell the waiter to bring whatever Ida made tonight that's special.
