Where everybody knows your name...

Yes, I would go back!

To counter silleved's review, I say this: One of my favorite things about Marie's Crisis is the fact that there AREN'T a bunch of "wanna-be broadway performers" to turn it into something it's not: another competitive piano bar. There are people from all walks of life with varying professions who just happen to love Musical Theatre. Sure, there's ridiculous renditions of treasured favorites, but no one's really claiming to be perfect; those were your expectations when you entered and you're using it as ammunition because someone chewed you out for taking their stool. Sure, there's always going to be some "wanna-be" in the crowd, it is NYC afterall, but it's so refreshing (to me) to unwind somewhere that you don't have to listen to a bunch of people competing for the attention of a crowd (i.e. every other open-mic in the city) and just have a communal all-sing with a diverse crowd who happens to appreciate Musical Theatre. I'm still in my mid-20's and only a couple years old to NYC, so I don't know the way Marie's "used to be," but for me, I've met some great friends (and some not-so-great people) and I always go in with the mentality of "it is what it is" (like a homely stepchild) and embrace it for that. p.s. I'm not the Les Miz wannabe, nor the person who chewed you out. p.p.s. I would be pissed too if you stole my stool; they're hard to come by, haha.

sad tale...

No, I would not go back!

don't be surprised when the wanna-be broadway performers who have nothing to offer but an off-key rendition of Les Miz classics give you attitude because you take their stool. LOL. better option is Splash Bar Monday night fabullousness!!! Skip this used-to-be-relevant has-been bar. sorry but the truth hurts.

Not the Same but still good..

Yes, I would go back!

Maries used to be one of my favorite places to go on a tuesday night because of the "Casting Couch" hosted by piano host extroadinaire Jack. I stumbled in this tuesday to discover Jack was not there, and the Casting Couch hour is no more. Very disappointing. I need to find a new favorite Cabaret player! Still a great feel good time!

So much fun

Yes, I would go back!

We stumbled upon Marie's after visiting Mario Batal's PO restaurant around the corner. Our barkeep suggested hitting up Marie's. It was a great find. So much fun. If you are not a lover of Broadway Showtunes, this is probably not your cup of tea. I would have stayed much longer had my S.O. been more of a fan. I think next time I will go with my theater friends. People are friendly and fun. If in NYC, visit and enjoy Marie's Crisis!!!

Marie's is NOT closed

Yes, I would go back!

Marie's Crisis Cafe is NOT closed! The venue two doors down, Rose's Turn, closed two years ago, and there have been erroneous reports that it was Marie's. It was not. As of this writing, March 31, 2010, Marie's Crisis Cafe is alive and thriving!
