It was our first time at M & H. We showed up with a group of 8 at 1130 or so - the host told us they would try to accommodate us in an hour or so we returned at about 1 am ( now being only four people) and Michael the host went out of his way to find us a place to wait for a few minutes and got to know us and our drink desires. He seated us and we were off to the most adept mixology in NYC if not in the country. The "Penicillin" was the most interesting drink we have ever had - (three of us are in a mixology club and were thrilled by Sasha's skills and subtle performance) Great place - with good rules and standards - A total experience - THANKS MICHAEL !!

Milk and Honey would be the perfect place to hang out and relax after a hard day's work; a haven where to rest from crowded, loud bars if you happened to be in the neighborhood. A great place to drop by. But wait. There is a reservation-only policy. So unless one can afford or be infatuated enough with the place to pay for a membership, which allows unlimited, impromptu access (even though calling is strongly recommended), I would say don't bother. Yes, it is quiet. Yes, there is old school jazz playing in the background. Yes, the bartender knows his stuff. But then, you find all the same things at Angel's Share, without the fuss. As Milk and Honey's pros are not that exceptional, its cons make it unworth the while: the tiny space allotted to non-members feels claustrophobic, and the freedom given to the bartender does not mean tremendous creativity on his side, but rather the conviction that his somewhat boring, unbalanced cocktails are the best in the world.

Went here with two girlfriends awhile back with the intent of ordering rum drinks since we were told these were their speciality. The server came by and we just told him, something with rum, and he brought back 3 different drinks one for each of us that were all fantastic. we did this 3 times, never getting the same drink twice, which was fantastic. it's a little dark on the inside, but very quiet and soothing. cash only and pricey ($15 per drink) but a fun experience every now and then for date or a couple of girlfriends.

The Service Can Ruin the Evening

I came to Milk and Honey with a group of 3 clients looking for a place to shoot a 20Â’s themed fashion ad I figured that Milk and Honey would be the perfect location with the speak easy reputation it has. ButÂ…Â… when the first impression you have of the place is a rude hostess it changes the evening for everyone. The Short Haired (brown bob with bangs) waitress was so rude to our entire table, by rolling eyes and glaring. Originally I brushed it off as a attitude problem and approached her about space for the shoot. She answered me with a rude tone the returned to her blackberry. With the reputation that Milk & Honey has I was sad to see them have such an ignorant employee. The drink are fabulous but when the person that serves you is uncouth it always leave a bad taste in your mouth.

cocktails of the highest quality served in a respectful no b.s. atmosphere. if u haven't thought of cocktails in the same terms as gourmet cuisine, this is the place to begin your education. exclusive but no attitude.

M&H is a lovely, relaxing, and unpretentious place. The phone number to make reservations changes fairly frequently. No, you don't have to be a member of the NY club but being a member of the London club helps to get the phone number. The bartender (or more along the lines of a mixologist) is charming and extremely creative with drinks. There is no menu - you tell him what you want, and he will create. You won't be disappointed.

This place is defintitely a great spot & the drinks are fantastic. It's a tad small, but you cannot beat the atmosphere & everything else. It is what it is...a great spot in a quiet & relaxed setting.

nymetro's reviewer is a bit pretentious. the bar has no "membership" (though they certainly have the right to refuse you) and the address is public knowledge. you do have to call, they do call you back/ring you in. there are rules. it's not a speakeasy. the cocktails are the best in town - pure art. sasha doesn't make them all himself. Take a first date here and plan for brunch the next day.
