Not exciting enough for 18% gratuity added

I ordered 4 drinks at the bar and put them on one card. The bartender hands me the bill and it includes $9 in tip. Seriously? Seriously. I'm used to NY prices but that is just greedy. Regarding the scene: an occasional celeb, some guys in drag, moderately good looking people with cash, and a few hipsters (like A. Wang not salvation army). DJ was okay.
