The best karaoke

My husband and I lived in New York (from Australia) for 3 months over the Christmas/New Year period and we visited Mulberry Street Bar three times. We stumbled over it on Thanksgiving after we had lunch in SoHo. We took relatives on two separate occasions in January this year on Saturday nights. The jukebox is stopped at just before 10pm and the karaoke starts. Amazing singers, partcularly Bob, who belts out New York New York beter than Sinatra. Great entertainment and can highly recommend.

While out with my husband and another couple we decided to stroll along LIttle Italy. Passed this bar that was hopping! Everyone, young and old, was having a blast. Dragged my husband and friends in and before you knew it we were dancing, singing and making friends with the nicest crowd ever. Doesn't matter your age...20 somethings were dancing with 50 somethings and enjoying every minute of it. It was the most impromptu fun I have had in a long time. Can't wait to take the girls there!!! I am giving it a nine only because I have tasted better wine, but who cares about the wine when you are having so much fun!

Stumbled into this gem after an average meal in Little Italy. Singing, Sinatra, cold beer, hot bartender and atmosphere. No crowds and everyone was having fun Karaoke-ing...the owner and an older gent rocked Frank tunes for two hours. Don't miss this place.

my husband and i wanted to spend a nice evening together so we went to Angelo's in Little Italy and had an amazing dinner. We decided to stroll down the street to find a little place to have some drinks. We can across the Mulberry Street Bar and saw they had karaoke and my husband said we had to go in. Needless to day, about 2 hours later I had already sung 4 or 5 songs and was having a blast. The people there were so amazing and friendly. Not what we expected in NY. Let me just say, they are more polite in NY than in Philly. I felt right at home and the mob atmosphere made us feel right at home!! We are definitely going back the next time we're in town. We don't get to NY much but this is our favorite hot spot. The owner, John, called to thank me for singing and made me feel so welcome. I would definitely recommend the Mulberry Street Bar to anyone that is looking for a great time. The staff was excellent too!!! Thanks again!

little italy

As a shopping tourist to new york feb 2008 I happened across this bar in Mulberry street while looking for the area known as Little Italy, { the historical destination for the Italian emigrants looking for a new life in the new world} although i found that most of the historical area had been taken over by the ever increasing China town, i was pleasantly surprised to find a bar that was full of memorabilia and original fittings from way back. The manager also deserves special thanks for his patience, as I became the type of of tourist filming anything that moved {basically a pain in the ass} These were his words to me as I went back for a final visit the evening before returning to the UK. Anyway Tony Thanks so much for your understanding. Jim

Excellent Unpretentious Watering Hole

I travel to NY on business from England on a regular basis, and I always make sure I make my way to this bar on every visit. From the outside you probably wouldn't look at it twice, but as soon as you walk in you feel right at home. It is a very welcoming place and the decor hasn't changed for years, but it's not trying to be something that it isn't, very traditional and a nice break from the plastic palace bars that you will find uptown. The friendly bar staff, good beer, and good atmosphere make this place my favourate bar in The Big Apple. I am returning to NY in Feb 06 with 2 friends for a little break and can assure I will take them both down Mulberry St, to sample the delights of the bar and fine restauants in the area.
