Hippylawyer is a douche for her Connecticut stereotype because I am actually from there and I found this place to be great. I would definitely go back again.

a great place for after work, weekend afternoons, ), a game of pool, catch all kinds of lower east side characters and fend off the hipsters!

Andy probably lives in Connecticut and has only been to the Parkside once, on a weekend. Moreover, he clearly never (1) talked to anyone who works there, since they are all completely unpretentious, kind people, (2) visited the back room, where the diversity of offerings and attendees is rivaled only by their quality, or (3) hung out with the life-long residents who shoot pool during the week, who are definitely not dot-bomb rejects. I live in that neighborhood, have a job, drink there, and invite everyone who lives below 14th (geographically or culturally) to come by and see for yourself.

Contrary to Andy Bailey's assertion in his review of The Parkside, the clientele is a veritable melting pot. Yes, there is a significant contingent of one-time dot-com'ers, myself included, but the bar's culture is far more diverse. Enter with an open mind and you are sure to meet people from all walks of life.
