Showed up at midnight, was told we could get a spot at the bar in an hour. Rude hostess took our number and we went back in an hour. We were told that we could not get in; in the meantime - hipsters kept going in and coming out with no reservation. BULLSHIT bar.

The worst thing about PDT is getting in the door: you need to call and get a reservation if you plan to come and they are hard to get. For just two people though, sometimes you can get a spot at the bar if you just show up. The gimmick -the entrance is through the phone both at the hot dog shop next door - is amusing and the drinks are actually quite good; I strongly recommend their Gin & Tonic, made with homemade tonic syrup. The decor is a little different but pretty interesting (lots of wood and stuffed animal heads). All-in-all this is a fun place to come with two or three people to have a quiet drink and chat.

I was lured here by the promise of bacon flavored bourbon, and yes, it was all it was promised to be. what I wasn't warned about was the bartender, who asked me to "keep my voice down" while I was having a political discussion with a friend at his bar. i guess the only thing you are allowed to say in more than a whisper is how great the bartender's vest is. at $13 a drink, this place is as pretentious as a speakeasy on st. mark's could possibly be. if you want to have a good time, AT A BAR, skip this place and the attitude that comes with it. it's not worth it.

I have tried to get into PDT 4 times. Twice I have rung up to make a reservation and they have been fully booked. This was even when I rang 20 mins after they opened for reservations. The door and reservations staff are always rude and arrogant. One door staff told me to come back in half an hour . In the meantime, we had a hot dog. When I went back in 30 mins she yelled at me that we couldn't come in because we weren't on her waiting list (perhaps she should have written the details down?). Not recommended. Plenty of other nice bars in St Marks place without the attitude!

When I called at 3:30 to make a reservation, they asked how many in my party and when I said 2, the girl stammered that they didn't have anything available tonight but I could come sit at the bar. I found it impossible to believe that a bar that's open from 6:00-2:00am and only takes same-day reservations at 3:00 had already filled every hour. When i arrived at 12:30 to try and walk in I was told they didn't have any room AS I stared over her shoulder at an empty booth. We waited an hour and when we checked back in- were told they were closed. As I sat in crif dog and had a hot dog to ease my frustration, I watched a stream of pop-collared frat guys, 21 year old hipsters, and dopey tourists pour out. I realized as someone who has worked in high end cocktail in NYC and actually knows a good martini- we probably would have been out of place any way.

We went last night (7/11/09) and found the girl at the door to be really friendly and helpful. In fact, one of the things we like most about the place was that the staff worked so hard to make our time in their "exclusive" establishment so comfortable. My cocktails were refreshing and unique. Loved it.

Drinks were ok. Attitude from staff not worth it. I get the sense that the person at the front is instructed to be rude, to give the impression that the bar is so pretentious, we're not worthy of being there. It's not worth it. We were told that since we didn't have a reservation, we would have to wait 5-10 minutes until she figured out if she could accomodate us. There was NO ONE in the place and we wanted 1 drink. We said we'd be out in 20 minutes, and were told "it takes 20 minutes just to make the drinks." (It doesn't). After 2 minutes, we were given the blessing to come in, even though the place was still empty. No fun, not worth the hype, not giving them my $ again.

I have to agree with most of the comments. We went to NY for the first time to visit some friends. Loved PDT for the most part but the girl working the door was full of attitude along with the waitress. At one point my table burst in to laughter and the girl at the door turned to us and shhhhhed us. Dont shhhh me! Later they served me a drink with Gin and I asked for Vodka. I can tell the difference but the waitress said thats vodka and returned with new drink and an attitude with a twist. I wasnt being a jerk I just know my drink and they made a mistake. No need for the tud! It was your mistake. Other then that I thought the place was great! They need to axe that chick at the door though. She doesnt make you feel welcome the second you walk in the door and if you're reading this it was the girl at the door at 10pm on 15-April-2009. B**ch!

Got to agree with other reviewers about the nasty attitude. The only novel thing is the entrance. It's downhill after that.

Great cocktails mixed with an awful attitude do not mix. One of the bartenders was absolutely rude and obnoxious. You are better off in any other place in east village.
