Just went to Pete's and had a great time. The people, food, and charm of this tavern was amazing. There were 6 people in my party and everyone said what a great place we found, tucked away in Gramercy Park. My friends and I can't wait to return to Pete's for another great evening!

My family and I ate there last night, Friday. The wait staff was very good, pleasant and attentive. The food on the other hand... Seriously... probably the worst meal I've had in a very, very, very long time If it was just me, I could understand getting a bad dish, but.... The entire table had the same reaction The fried calimari was like eating rubber bands The mussels tasted like dirty socks My wife's salad was served on a hot plate, the dressing was all oil (how do you screw up a salad? From there it got worse All six of us agreed the meal was awful Awful and expensive We'll never be back Hope they get their act together Its a shame I never really would contact anyone about something like this, but in this case I just had to get it off my chest

When i come to the city, i always make it to Pete's. The food, beer, service and customers are the best. I have been coming here for 26 years and can't see why the others have complaints. I like to look at all the famous people who frequented the establishment over the years with the pixs on the walls. I especially like the pic of James Braddock ! Never a complaint from me or anyone I came with. Love the place. Also like the walk around Gramercy Park.

Pete's is great if you're looking for a relaxing good time with good company. The bar has an impressive draft collection including its' own brew - 1864. I prefer to stick to my Yuengling draft (from philly, can't help it). Unfortunately, and this is the only downfall, the beer sometimes can be a little skunk if the draft has not been pouring smoothly all evening. I like that during HH they walk around with sample appetizers. Pete's also has an impressive food menu considering it's a bar. I've come here a couple times for lunch and its great during the summer when you can sit outside.

After a short while my burger arrived perched on a bed of crispy French fries and oozing delicious cheddar cheese, my first bite was an explosion of charcoal and woody BBQ flavors that permeated through a juicy, yet firm meat patty. The bun was a soft and toasty sesame seed which melted in my mouth with every bite, the French fries were crispy and shoestring with every last one of them succumbing to my ferocious appetite. As I gazed at the various famous faces of past customers pictured on the walls overhead of me, I felt transfixed into a part of history and nostalgia that completed my New York Tavern experience. With an A+ for atmosphere and an A- for cuisine, Pete's Tavern should be on everyone's list as a staple neighborhood burger hangout spot. www.dmanburger.com

I don't know what the deal with the first reviewer is. Roaches? Haven't seen any - but, hey, if there's one, it is New York. No, I have only had exemplary service here. Even when I thought I had left my shoulder bag down here, they looked, were responsive, and were quick to tell me they didn't have it. In fact, it was at my local coffee shop - where they know me, even! - but didn't call. Value is the best, and the atmosphere is low key and frankly great.

I recently spent an evening at Pete's and forgot to retrieve my credit card from behind the bar when I left. A couple of days later, when I realised I'd done that, I called them. After a few minutes' rummaging, the barman found the card, popped it in an envelope and sent it back to me. It arrived a couple of days later. It could have been so much more hassle. The straightforward, no-fuss attitude of the staff is emblematic of this place - oh, and the burgers were great and the beer was good enough that I ... ummm ... forgot to take my credit card with me when I left. Highly recommended!

My experience here was one of the worst ever. I had my brother and his wife in from out of town and I wanted to take them to a nice low key place on Irving. We showed up and my sister-in-law ordered a salad. When she began to dig in she noticed a crumpled up napkin in the salad! Yes, the RECYCLE their salad! When we brought it to their attention they simply repeated time and again that they didn't put the napkin their. I had to threaten to create a scene just so that we could go and leave so my sister-in-law didn't throw up. I will never go here again - you shouldn't either.

Service and food are outstanding at this authentic NY classic pub and your wallet will not bust, to boot. Recently tried the duck breast "special"....unbelievable is the only word to describe especially @ $15.95. Burgers are huge and menu is so extensive that there will be something for everyone to enjoy in your party. So, don't miss Pete's Tavern on your next visit to town since so many famous regulars pick Pete's when in the neighborhood..check out the pictures and comments all over the walls. Enjoy DeLaurentis
