I enjoyed this place. I had no problems getting, had no problems or wait getting drinks. I even managed to breifly sneak in the pool area with an insanely sexy Aidan Quinn look alike. They nicely asked us to leave. So even when breaking the rules, the service was above decent and possibly near fabulous. The heat was smeltering and far to extreme to ignore. I would absolutely go again, especially if the Aidan Quinn doppelgänger is part of the swag.
Best View in Town

I was at Plunge once in the summer early one night with a good friend and loved its trendy feel and the view! I went back with two clients when up for the National Retail Federation Show in the winter and was happy to sit inside, enjoy the peacefulness of the night and slip outside for a wonderful view of the city with a bit of snow falling. Both times I went the crowd was mild and the service was exceptional!!!

Let me just start off by saying that if you are a person of color, then dont bother coming to Plunge at the Gansevort Hotel. The Plunge has no issue with discouraging black people from coming in by ignoring them even if they are at the front of the line which is exactly what happened to my friends and I. Walking into this establishment, I quickly realized that the ONLY people of color that the Plunge lounge at the Gansevort hotel want are the one working hourly wages as bouncers and the help. Also as an establishment, their presentation is a major fail. The music is terrible (and I found it surprising that they played Beyonce, Rhianna and music from other artist of color) The drinks are http://ehh.com and they dont sell their tables which leads me to believe that their whole attempt at being "exclusive" is a complete farce. Their is no cover charge because they are trying to make money at the bar. they are trying to make money at the bar because no one is dumb enough to buy a table for $600-$1,000 and even more so there is no cover charge because the entire Plunge experience is a FAIL and they know it. Dont bother.
Is there an option to give it a zero?!?

A terrible experience overall. Expecting a great night for a birthday party with bottle service, however the experience was not as nice as the expectation. First off, we already had a reservation for a table, then had to wait half an hour after checking in, and had to have someone else from the party meet us at the entrance, just to get in! Then when we get inside, can you see breathing room? The club was full of a bunch of drunk creepers who would not give you any room to breathe or move. Then after being there for 20 minutes, we get our bottle, of Absolut. What decent club gives their table service customer a terrible well vodka?!? This hotel has turned a cold shoulder to customer service, and focused only on making money. To run a successful business one has to make the customer happy, and they forgot that point. In Summary, this was a terrible experience, terrible alcohol, terrible management, and more hassle than any other club in town. Plunge needs to review some management, fire some ignorant floor managers, and stop trying to sell everyone and their brother a bottle at this club. Do not waste your time unless you feel like paying 500 dollars to feel like a sardine in a can.
WORST PLACE TO SPEND $500.00
By deb1980 on 7/19/2010
HAD MY BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE......WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! MUSIC WAS SOOOO LOW, STAFF WAS RUDE, MANAGER WAS RUDE ( A WHITE OLD MAN AND A TAN SKINNED MAN), GUYS WERE TRYING TO HIT ON ME AND MY FRIENDS...NO SECURITY AROUND, AFTER I COMPLAINED THAT THERE WERE MEN HITTING ON ME AND MY FRIENDS, THE MANAGER SIMPLY SAID" OK DONT WORRY ABOUT IT" AND SHRUGGED ME OFF EVEN AFTER I FOLLOWED HIM TO GET SOME SECURITY AROUND MY TABLE.....NEVER AGAIN!!! THIS PLACE IS ALL TALK AND NO BITE...FOOD WAS TERRIBLE AS WELL. POOL WASNT OPEN EVEN AFTER THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE OPEN. NOT-SO-BRIGHT WAITRESS CAME TO MY TABLE ONLY 2X AFTER BEING THERE FROM 9-3AM AND I HAD TO GIVE HER A 20% TIP...SO UNFAIR AND NOT WORTH MY TIME AND MONEY EVER AGAIN!!! PLS BEWARE!!!!!!!!
COAT CHECK DISASTER
By sc_nyc on 12/3/2009
I went to get my coat from coat check, and after 2-3 minutes I was given back my ticket and informed, "I don't have it." You can imagine my surprise to find out my brand new leather jacket has been either a) stolen by an employee or b) given to another patron at the fault of the coat check attendee. I was told to call back in the morning "maybe it will turn up." I wasn't born yesterday, I know I'm never seeing that coat again and it's their responsibility to compensate me. Well, I'd like to say after nearly two weeks I've still not had any one of my ten phone calls to this place returned. Absolutely disgusting for a place of this caliber and such a bad level of customer service. So beware when you check your coat at this joint...
Great weekend pool party
By moss5 on 8/31/2009
I've spent several weekends this summer at the Gansevoort. The place is crowded and the weekend party is over the top. But what makes the day is their pool boy cocktail server Travis. How this supercutie manages to serve 200 people crowded around the pool, remember all their names and their drinks while smiling and dancing is beyond me. Always great service. Fun fun party.
Bachelorette Weekend in NYC...awsome!
By bjules52 on 6/16/2009
Our group had 10 girls, and we went to Plunge on a Friday night in June . It was packed, but we managed to find room to create our little circle for dancing right outside on the rooftop! The views were awsome overlooking the river! (who cares if Jersey was across the river?? It doesn't make your view any less appealing!) Not too hot, not too chilly. We had a blast! Of course we were all so excited to be together and to be in NYC celebrating that we probably could have had fun anywhere there was booz & music ! The staff was mostly friendly, not a real issues there. Yes, the cost of drinks is pretty high (This was our experience though ALL over NYC). So, if you are planning a visit to NYC for the first time, just come expecting to pay ALOT for drinks. We planned in advance and had an idea that it would be that way so we saved up for a rockstar weekend.... This bar is in a great location (meatpacking district) so you can bar/club hop all night long by foot.
