The view is amazing. The rest of the experience is awful. The bartenders don't know how to mix drinks and they are snooty and obnoxious. There is only one elevator for the hotel and the guests share it with the garbage cart from cleaning the rooms. It is not easy to get to and they don't welcome locals. Ridiculously overpriced. LIC has a lot of other choices that are far better.

eurotrashy + overpriced. I was dragged there by a friend to 'check out the view'... which IS the ONLY decent thing about this place. Lots of fake purses and douchebags donning their Ed Hardy attire. L.A.M.E.

it took 20 minutes for a waitress to come over to us. 15 minutes later we got our drinks. it started raining and we moved to the bar. We never saw our waitress again so we ordered another round from the Bartender. We told him we started a tab with the waitress and he went over and talk to the waitress and then told us we had to start another tab at the bar! He could have just transferred the tab! so we closed the tab with the waitress and used our credit card to pay the bartender. then we decided to have one more round. We ordered and pulled out the card to pay again and the Bartender told me that there was a $50 minimum on credit cards! WHAT? The drinks we ordered with the waitress was less that that AND the round we ordered FROM HIM not 15 minutes earlier was less than that. Suddenly there was a minimum? It would have been fine if there was a sign and not already let us charge less than that. It makes no sense and it is BAD BUSINESS. Don't waist your time or money on this place.

I had a birthday party here a few weeks after it opened. There was a minor snag with the bouncer requiring my guests to wear collared shirts (even though there were definitely guys up there in T-shirts), but it was all good. It was an overcast night, so it wasn't too crowded, we snagged one of the nice comfy cabanas (which also blocked out the rain) and we even managed to get a great deal on a bottle of champagne because the price had been listed wrong on the menu (opening kinks, I guess). Then I went back a few weeks later for a friend's birthday to find all the cabanas and tables with "Reserved" signs on them -- now they expect you to pay hundreds of dollars to sit down! It got extremely crowded and loud, the bathrooms got gross, and I decided Ravel was close to being "over" before it even began. I'd dress to impress, get there early and get out!

Spent the day bar-hopping outdoor spots in Manhattan/Queens and wanted to round out the evening at this rooftop "lounge" alongside some potentially great views of the Queensboro Bridge and the East Side. The doorman wouldn't let us in because we were wearing shorts. He was (surprise!) rude and condescending and didn't seem to understand one important distinction: this is QUEENS!!! After a quick discussion he agreed to let us in if we ordered "bottle service" and said he would allow us only if we spent $500 minimum at the "lounge". He continued to explain that this was a "Lounge on top of a Hotel" as if he were in the Meatpacking District talking to some people from New Jersey, not several Queens locals trying to patronize a new neighborhood spot. We didn't. There is no need for this type of place in LIC -- go away!
