I went in last night with a few friends of mine only to be yelled at by a presumptuous bartender. This disrespectful, bitter staff ruined my evening and lost my business for good. I'd recommend staying away.

I knew to be skeptical before going in as I had skimmed the latest reviews here and on yelp.com but we ventured in anyways because we had been wandering around aimlessly in the cold. Not only were we met with the foul stench of burnt cooking oil when we arrived but the drinks (martinis and cocktails) were poorly conceived and poorly mixed --- they were more like shots rather than cocktails. Not to mention, it took a good 15-20 minutes to get our drinks! (and it took some prodding on our part as the waiter apparently forgot that the drinks had been sitting on the counter the entire time) Poor service, terrible ambience, awful work by the bartender. Clearly will not be returning anytime soon or ever!

#1 even though they have cofee and tea on the menu the weitress refused to serve it to us, even after our meals. #2 they charge you tip and include it somewhere in the middle of the bill so you won't notice that the bill already includes the tip (for parties of 6 i think) #3 they charge tax on tip #4 after we complained about the amount of tip wich was in total of 28% the weitress used cursed us out. #5 the manager was not there and they wouldn't eve give us the name of the manager ......

It seems like that person below just had a bad day and time...but I can tell you that Simone's is wonderful! This place is so chill, relaxed, and beautiful! The martinis are fantastic! Perfect Latte. And real European type sandwhiches that are mouth watering. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. You can hang out during the day with a book and drink, or come at night when it's more lively, but every time has been a pleasure. This is most romantic place in the east village too!

The atmosphere is quiet decadence, no rush, no hassle, no stress - great late night hours to wind down or up after a night out. Great mud cake, good champagne and a damn good cup of coffee the way it should be made. It's been a fun experience every time we go. Definitely a lovely evening out, post-movie, post-dinner, post-theatre...dark, decadent getaway.

I can't believe this would even be included under the misleading category of "Wine Bar." They only have seven wines available by the glass (3 red, 1 rose, 3 white). My Alsatian pinot blanc tasted old and stale. My roquefort salad was bland and tasted oily. Terrible place.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
