Despite it's general "bar" appearance, the Sparrow Tavern has a very non-bar menu. The Mediterranean inspired menu is a refreshing change to your standard burger and fries normally offered at a bar (although they do offer a great version of both). The ingredients are fresh, seasonal and flavorful. They also offer great beers on tap, including Blue Point and Bitburger. The atmosphere is great. The decor and the music are not what one normally finds in the neighborhood. Personally, I like a place that goes from Motorhead to TV on The Radio. I love to eat brunch here as well, the Bloodymarys are worth it alone...bartenders please note: a proper Bloodymary is not just V-8 and Vodka, and the Sparrow knows it. This place is a welcomed change to the usual "sports bars" and "lounges" in the area.

Here right now. Very helpful and attentive staff led by the bartender (Tommy). There's an undeniable originality ... And the $11 grilled cheese (and salad) was solid. Bonus: celebrity sighting

Had the misfortune of meeting a few friends here. I started a tab with the bartender, who continued to "wait" on us at the table throughout the evening. The place was half full, but you could tell from this woman that having to come back and get something new for us every 20 minutes or so was a huge inconvenience. She huffed and threw her hands up while asking us "do you want anything now?" As we were wrapping up, she had the gall to come to us and say "The next time you come in here, everyone has to order something." We were aghast. All of us had a few drinks, some of us had food, only one person had a soda only. Astounded, all of us tipped what her attitude was worth. Some tipped some, most tipped nothing. The best part was on our way out when she checked, and shouted across the place, "Nice. Don't ever come back!" One of our party went up to her and explained exactly why she got what she did. She continued to tell us to get out and never come back. Thank you very much, I happily never will.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
