Last night was my first time at Turtle Bay and definitely my last time! If your looking for mean, drunk kids this is your place. I actually thought the bouncers were quite friendly and helpful since after we left, about 15 minutes after getting there, they had some suggestions for some better bars in the area. If your looking for a certain type of low scale people and are up on your fighting skills - Turtle bay is your place
Bigoted, trashy bar
By AR45 on 7/30/2009
This bar has rude, bigoted bouncers that discriminate patrons based on sexual orientation. Google "nick adams turtle bay" to read about it. The place is totally trashy, so I don't know why any respecting New Yorker would go here in the first place.
Used to be a great bar. Now TERRIBLE

I cannot even begin to count the times I have been to Turtle Bay over the past 5 years or so. It used to be an amazing bar and the owners were incredibly open to hosting events, etc. Turtle Bay was recently taken over by new management and it has gone STRAIGHT downhill. They have run out every bar tender who worked there for years, all of their great managers, etc. They clearly don't care at all about their loyal customers or employees. I understand the motivation to make as much profit as possible at a bar, but give me a break... If you are looking for a disgusting bar full of drunk kids, this is your place. If you're lucky, you might even find a naked one passed out on the couch, drooling all over herself.
Terrible Party Service

My friends and I got to the bar on my birthday after setting up an open bar the week before only to find they wouldn't let us in due to being "over capacity." They never let us in and wouldn't let me talk to the manager. We had to go to the bar next door.

Turtle Bay is my new favorite place to go after work. Not only do they have GREAT drink specials but always a great mix of young professionals. (hint: good looking guys!!!) The service is superb and music is groovy.
BEST BAR FOR PARTIES!!!!
By amos77 on 10/16/2008
I just attended a friend's birthday party at Turtle Bay Grill and Lounge and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!! He got an Open Bar special for him and all of us friends and we got to drink wine, beer, and mixed drinks for two hours!!!! The regular prices are actually quite affordable too. The atmosphere is KICK @$$!!!! Downstairs has more of a pub feel, and upstairs (my personal favorite) is fully equipped with a dance floor. The bartenders even get on the bar and DANCE later in the night!!!!! TOO FUNNY!!!! The DJs were phenomenal, and the food/drinks were really great. DEFINITELY having my birthday here!!!!!! Greatest affordable place on the East Side!!!!

I danced the night away! Great mix of music. Gets a little crowded. drinks were a decent price. upstairs was better for dancing. downstairs was more low key. young crowd, but some mixed.
