besides the drinks (which are so creative and yummy).. can we talk about the food? wow! delicious! best fried calamari in nyc. seriously. i went there for brunch too recently (i think they just started brunch, because it wasn't crowded) and it was soooo good.. and for a great price..$12 included my drink. i love this spot.

Fantastic happy hour with good cocktails. Can get a little too crowded. Looking forward to returning.

The cocktails were good and reasonably priced (yay for less than $10 cocktails!) plus there was no attitude, which is always nice in Manhattan... But the design is almost too minimalist and seemed half-done. The space is thoughtlessly organized and the ceilings are awkwardly high which makes the bar feel empty (even though it was a busy night and I was there with about 10 friends) and not particularly inviting or intimate...

Verlaine's specialty drinks are so good, I've never even tried the happy hour specials which this place is known for. The music is great, the service is fast, the food is better than I would expect for the prices. AND it's only a block from the Essex/Delancey F/JMZ. A perfect 10, in my book.

Unbelievable but true. Daily! Lychee Martinis for 4 or 5 bucks. They don't skimp on liquor either! Appetizers are very good too! LES so not always convenient to get to. Been there too many times to count & each time a friend would tell another & so on. don't understand why this place is still a hidden gem!
