Excellent quality Japanese izakaya bar food with very reasonable price
By hermis on 11/19/2013
One of my favorite place to eat for excellent Japanese cuisine. Despite the elegant room and excellently cooked and plated dishes, the price is very reasonable. One can easily spend the same amount on crappy food at other izakayas that college students crowd at. The counter space is a great place to sit, one can see the (shy) raw food chef work his magic. When ordering sake, one can pick out one's sake cup from a unique collection. The seating at the counter also has a storage unit below the two seaters. I really like that this store pays attention to details like this, very Japanese in that way. Definitely trust the daily special for the fish choices, sashimi or cooked. Order everything you want at the beginning, as they will send out food in an order. If you add a cold dish later, it will disrupt the order in which the restaurant had nicely planned out for you. My personal favorites are the tomato salad, slimy natto bomb, ebi shinjo, kakuni, anago seiro meshi--- but I have to say there're not a dish there that I would regret ordering. Service is always great, the place is always clean and neat, and smells nice. The place is quiet, great to bring dates! :)
