Waste of Money, Horrbile Haircut ...
By R20926 on 7/4/2007
I decided to give Nick Arrojo's studio a try based on the "What Not to Wear" series that my wife watches. Although Nick himself did not cut my hair, one if his associates did and it was probably the worst haircut that I have ever had. I asked for a stylist who specialized in mens hair. The front desk referred me to a male stylist who I assumed that if he worked for Nick he would be pretty good. Boy was I wrong. This guy really did not cut my hair and did not listen to anything that I had to say about how I wanted my hair styled. He pretty much cut my hair similar to how he had his hair cut. Just picture your hair when you first wake up in the morning. All I wanted was a short mens haircut, nothing more nothing less. Well I walked out of there $100 poorer with a shi**y haircut. I had to get my hair cut again by another stylist to fix what this guy did. Sometimes hype is not really what it is all cracked up to be.

not worth it

They are just not as good as they think they are. Uptight, obnoxious staff. You can be a little pretentious if you have the goods to back it up. They do not!

Not coming back
By NYC_Gal on 6/22/2009
I went the a few times after I heard all the hype around it and just wanted to feel good after getting a haircut. They cut my hair using razors that caused frizziness and split ends, took time to grow and a few corrections by another stylist. Blow dry wasn't too great either, and the products I was convinced to buy were not good for my hair type and too sticky. I am getting better cuts in my neighborhood salon and for a fraction of the price. Don't go.

Genuinely good haircut
By avid on 4/22/2008
What's with the bad reviews? I think this place is amazing. I only come here to see Vincent and he gives the best haircut I've ever had in the city. He always understands the kind of fuss-free, simple and stylish hair styles that I'm looking for. My hair always grows out beautifully, which is a big plus for people like me, who often forgets when the next haircut appointment should be. I do agree though, that the level of service can be improved. I always have to wait for about 15 minutes before I can get my hair washed, and then maybe another 15 minutes before my actual haircut. Also, some assistants are a bit uptight and obnoxious. Regardless, if you're looking for a genuinely good haircut, this place definitely gives that.

moving on...
By nyc212Q on 12/28/2008
have been there quite a few times, always the same stylist. cuts were decent, but I hated that the assistants gave crappy blow dries. After paying 100+ I want to walk out of the salon looking and feeling amazing, not anxious to get home to fix the blow dry.

Love this salon!!!
By jackyinthebox on 12/5/2009
The staff is friendly and can't do enough for you. I had a great experience both times I went there. Nick cut my hair the first time. Nothing beats a great haircut. It's a fun place to be. The atmosphere is awesome. I'll keep going back even though I live in NJ.

I don't understand the negative reviews
By swee2th on 12/23/2009
If you want to tell your stylist how your hair should look, don't go to Arrojo Studio. There are plenty of lower quality stylists who will do your bidding somewhere else. However, if you want a professional who can give you the best look for your facial features and hair type, then definitely DO go to Arrojo. That's what they do best. And don't be frightened off by the price of a haircut here. I have often gone 12 weeks and even longer between haircuts because the cut grows out so beautifully. In the long run, I've actually saved money by having my hair cut here. And I've never looked so good in my life, if I do say so myself.

worth it!!
By allisonc on 5/4/2007
Arrojo Studio is the best!! As you may have guessed by its location (and by the owner's name), the salon is very hip and filled with the poshest dowtown crowd. However, the entire staff is very friendly and there is absolutely no attitude. I've been to several different stylists there; each have their own unique personalities that come out through their work, but no matter the stylist my cut is always innovative, flattering, and great! (my favorites though are chuck and amanda....chuck is a bit more conservative whereas amanda will rock you out!) I never get as many compliments as when I do after I get my hair cut there. Fun atmosphere, great cuts, worth the money...a must!!

best haircut I ever had!!!
By darcy01 on 2/20/2008
I recently visited NYC and had an appointment with Vincent to get my haircut and absolutely love it. I never had my hair fall into place like with his cut. I have learned that the haircut DOES make all the difference. Vincent and his assistant, Nicole were very friendly and made me feel comfortable. It was an experience I will never forget. I will definitely go back when I am in NYC.
