It is under new management. SAME SPACE. SAME NAME. SAME SIGN. NOT Birds and Fellas... IT IS SKETCHY.

I came here initially at the recommendation of a friend after a botched haircut. I've received cuts from both Jamie Lynn and Lauren, and they're both highly recommended- they are friendly, patient, and great listeners. I'm now a regular, and highly recommend them as a place to go for a great cut at the half the price of what other salons would offer for comparable service!

A boutique salon that provides relaxation, pre-cut beverages and most importantly, hairdressers that: a) listen b) care c) recognize heads come in all different shapes and sizes (and treat them appropriately!!!) Great experience and would recommend without hesitation.

Immediately greeted at the door, my coat taken, I felt so welcomed at Birds and Fellas. The cozy salon had that at-home feel, especially when wine or coffee was offered. The staff is extremely gracious. Asking about your magazine choice, drink preference and birthday, Birds and Fellas really makes you feel special. Aside from the immense hospitality, Jennifer spent a good 20 minutes with me making sure she understood what I wanted from my color and didn't miss a detail. The result was amazing. It was exactly what I asked for and more than I imagined it could be. I'm extremely happy with the results & the price! A great spot, and the only salon I will go to from now on!

My job forces me to move a lot, so I feel I am always having to play Russian Roulette with finding a new stylist with every new city. Which is why I count myself so lucky to have found Birds and Fellas so early in my search - literally the first salon I tried in New York! The service is impeccable, the staff so friendly you feel you've been going to them for ages, and through my entire cut JamieLynn, my stylist, walked me through everything she was doing and why, and the consultation prior to any cutting was very thorough - she didn't want to get started until I had voiced everything and she had made sure she had heard me correctly. Everything was so personalized as well, which really make me relax and enjoy my time there. And of course - finally - the cut was incredible, and she didn't just do a simply blow-dry, but fully styled it for me - I felt really great walking of there. Top marks for Birds and Fellas, and JamieLynn!!

Birds and Fellas hits the right balance of being a modern, creative salon without the pretentious attitude or absurd price tags. They have capable stylists that listen to what you want and can deliver, and an amazing understanding of customer service. Theresa has done wonders with styling and blowing out my hair, which is a feat because it is so thick and unruly. I also love that the owner is creative in offering regular perks to his customers, and does a great job encouraging friend referrals (I'm a marketing nerd, so I can appreciate the power of word-of-mouth!). If you're jaded with the NYC salon experience, or just want to try something new, I promise you won't be disappointed!

As a guy, searching around for a good hair cut bargain in NYC can be somewhat daunting if you want to step it up beyond an Astor Hair job for $15. Birds and Fellas delivers. A great little place with lovely people. Highly recommended.

I had gotten my hair cut and colored by Jamie Lynn, and she did a great job! I was thrilled with my color and she gave me a very unique blowout that I showed off for the rest of the day. Also the atmosphere is very relaxed and personal feeling.

My husband and I just moved here in December-- looked ALL over for a salon. I am VERY picky- hey, what can I say, I loves my hair. I went on NY Mag and found this-- SO glad I did. My stylist was sweet- she did a great job, AND they make sure and have your favorite bev and mags there when you arrive! Who can ask for anything more??

Ok, so the place was cute, unfortunately I couldn't enjoy the atmosphere considering the tiny space was too small to walk and there was no heat to defrost me from outside. Now the stylist. She was really nice (I'll admit that) but I have to say this was the worst haircut I've ever received. It took so long with no pay off - different lengths of hair, no consistant style, old fashion...just a mess. It made me think for the first time in my life that maybe the bargain rate isn't such a bargain. Skip this place, there are plenty more in New York worth trying.
