I had let my hair grow out and was completely bored with it. Went to B&F and could not be more excited! This was my first visit and I was really impressed by everything. I was offered a tasty beverage ranging from tea to martini's to red wine right when I walked in. I met the manager and Coco who were fun from the first moment. My hair made me look a little too old and mature so Coco vamped up it up a little. I always thought my hair was flat and straight - she cut it so my natural body in my hair came out but totally managable on a daily basis. We talked and laughed the entire time. If you're over the factory feeling of most salons - go here! They're focused on you and your hair 110%! Very reasonable price and they gave me a little gift bag when I left. Love that. Thanks Coco!

This place is quite unique. It's small but packs in the extras. Besides the great men's cut I get from either of hte two female stylists I go to, they offer unlimited free drinks, have super cool music, and they send out email reminders. Their clients seem to be young and hip and mostly creative professionals (I do web design). I've sat next to film editors and girls in the fashion industry. The prices are reasonable for all the stuff you get, and the staff is very friendly.

After reading reviews on this site & others, I decided to try this place out and was not disappointed. I had a great experience & got a great cut at a reasonable price- especially for NYC! Teresa really listened to what I was looking for & delivered. I love the design of the salon & the service is great. I will definitely be going back.

I went to get a haircut at Birds & Fellas based on this and other reviews online, and had a fantastic experience. I wasn't really articulate about what kind of cut I wanted, but could picture it in my head. They were able to translate my poor descriptions into a great haircut. The place also looks really stylish, has great service with drinks included, and has a really down-to-earth staff which is great for this neighborhood.

I just got my hair cut by Jamie Lynn and she's AMAZING! I went from long to super short - similar to Michelle Williams's hair on the cover of Vogue. I am Asian and have very fine hair. It really takes an expert to cut my type of hair especially for a short hairstyle. Jamie Lynn was precise and accurate and really understood what I was looking for and what it takes to shape my hair to match my face. I am EXTREMELY happy with my hair cut and will recommend Jamie Lynn to anyone. Also the salon itself is very accomodating offering beverages and even wine! Side note: I used to get $100 haircuts from another salon and this was a better cut at a better price!!!

This was my first good experience at a hair salon in Manhattan. Theresa, my hairstylist, was fantastic. I wanted to go blonde & she took the time to explain to me exactly how blonde she could go & why (I had very dark hair at the time). I had a picture in my head which I communicated in very inexact terms, but when she was finished it was exactly as I'd pictured it in my mind. The salon is hip & comfortable, the drinks keep coming, the music is great and it's on overall fun experience. Best of all is that it's a great value. I will definitely go back!

I went to Birds & Fellas for the first time earlier this week and thought it was so refreshing compared to other hair care experiences I've had in the city . I went in with a picture of the hairstyle I wanted and Theresa was able to give me exactly what I was looking for--and was so kind. And the salon itself is contemporary and chic, while still remaining cozy and accessible, which is exactly what I want at the end of a work day.

I'd been feeling blah about my hair, and after surveying many salons around the East Village and Williamsburg, I came across Birds & Fellas, and now won't go anywhere else! After the cut, my hair felt revived and fresh, and I've never gotten so many compliments. The stylist added a few simple layers and it did the trick. Plus, the atmosphere was super-chill and relaxing.

Ok, so the place was cute, unfortunately I couldn't enjoy the atmosphere considering the tiny space was too small to walk and there was no heat to defrost me from outside. Now the stylist. She was really nice (I'll admit that) but I have to say this was the worst haircut I've ever received. It took so long with no pay off - different lengths of hair, no consistant style, old fashion...just a mess. It made me think for the first time in my life that maybe the bargain rate isn't such a bargain. Skip this place, there are plenty more in New York worth trying.
