Fantastic Student Cuts
By Vivian on 8/1/2004
I went to get a student cut at the new downtown location and it was the best haircut I have ever had. I've gotten so many compliments and am extremely satisfied. Surprised that a completely FREE haircut can be so wonderful. My stylist was very friendly and confident. And if she ever needed any help, there was always an experienced stylist there, offering suggestions and advice. Also, it's a beautiful salon. Modern minimalist chic that manages to veer away from being stark. It has a hip, relaxed atmosphere. *The reason I gave low points for value and said no for bargains is that for the regular services, prices are a bit expensive.

I lived in Boston for seven years, and am in NYC for graduate school at Columbia, and this is by far the nicest place I have ever gone to get my long hair trimmed. While you are waiting you can order a healthy lunch made to order, or sip on complimentary coffee or tea (all of the Starbucks teas are available). Then, the assistant of the stylist finds you and gets you set up before you consult with the highly talented person who cuts your hair. I had a blast. I feel like a New Yorker now.

One of my choices for reliable haircuts. These are the people I go to to fix up bad cuts from other places. I've never had a bad cut there. Even my "student cut" was EXCELLENT. However, I do think the B&B cuts only fit a certain type of hair - the finer, straight type... I've definitely heard people getting not-so-great cuts - but usually from people with heavier, coarser hair. It's a razor cut - what do you expect?

Finally people that understand curly hair and know how to make it look great.
Not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning.....

overall.....a pretty delightful experience. A little on the pricey side, but always a great cut. If you're in for a coloring, be prepared to dry yourself. very pleased!
