I was so excited to visit Fringe Salon when in town from Boston. I went into Fringe worried that I was going to, once again, have someone not listen to what I wanted. But Jen was super sweet. I showed her a picture of what I had wanted and she did exactly what I wanted. I also have a friend who goes there and she had a dramatic change in her haircut last summer. I was expecting her to come back home in tears when she told me she cut off 10 inches. But it was the cutest haircut! The cutest salon! And now we both drive from Boston to New York and only let Jen do our hair. I'm so happy I found Fringe Salon!

Bad, bad haircut

I just had the worst haircut I've had in years at this salon. My stylist totallly disregarded my instructions and suddenly decided to cut huge sections out of the back of my hair because "it needed it." It will take six to eight months for this disaster to grow out. I think that NY Mag should have someone try all of the stylists at a salon before giving it a Critics Pick. Ugh.

FRINGE ROCKS

I read the reviews on this website and desperate for a big change and good cut I booked an appointment with Amy and held my breath. I gave her carte blanche to do whatever she thought would look good on me. Result: The best haircut ever! I love the shorter cut with funk. I feel like a whole new me. Problem is I don't live in the City so have to find an excuse to come to New York every 6 weeks for trims. It will be worth it. Amy is a true artist! You won't be dissapointed.

The Best Salon in New York!

I've been going to Amy for haircuts and color for almost 9 years. I've never walked out of there with anything less than unique, adorable hair -- and I like to change my hair a lot, so that means she is very versatile! I get complimented all the time. I've gotten to know a number of stylists at Fringe and all of them are friendly, talented and creative. The salon itself is beautiful and cozy. Go to Fringe! Go now! GO!!!

Consistently the best

Amy's attitude-free salon, with its quirky and appealing rotating art gallery and vintage hair dryers on display, is a treat and a respite in a world that spins on attitude and ostentation. Amy has been cutting my hair for a bunch of years now. Her cuts are relatively maintenance free and her skill as a colorist is legendary. I confess I'm generally in the oldest demographic when I'm there, but I am never made to feel uncomfortable or self-conscious. My twenty-something daughter has entrusted her hair to Amy since high school, with chic and sometimes slightly edgy but definitely cute results. Her stylists are hip but friendly, it's a chill kind of place but caring and proficient, and Amy herself is warm and funny and professional and very low on pretense -- as well as being one of the best stylists in the business. Go. Enjoy. You'll be glad you did.

this place honestly has the best of everything... when i first moved to the city, i was dying to find a solid, professional salon with a bit of edge and somehow wound up living right across the street from fringe. it was my lucky day! i've been going to these guys for years now, specifically amy and katie, and have had nothing but kick-ass color, one-of-a-kind cuts and considerate, warm service. if you are looking for a head of hair that turns heads, book an appointment. you will not be disappointed!

I have had several great experiences at this Salon, especially when it comes to discussions with the stylists about what would work with my hair type and personal style. I know I put myself in good hands whenever I settle into the chair, so I just sit back, enjoy the well crafted atmosphere, sip the glass of tea that has been provided, and have a nice chat with the Amy (and leave feeling beautiful.)

This place is great! The atmosphere is wonderful, (they even make you tea or hot chocolate!). Everyone is nice and knowledgeable, and I have never gotten a better haircut. High marks for Fringe! I don't think there is a better place. seriously.

Fringe salon is soooo cute. And so is my hair every time I leave there. Fringe has a really great energy and a good vibe. There is an old-fashioned, yet really cool and fun look to the place. Luisa gives me the best haircut ever, which is saying a lot because I have twice the amount of hair than most people. I always leave feeling like a Victoria's Secret model, and I always, always get compliments on my haircut from my friends and total strangers. I recommend Fringe to anyone who's considering it.
