I would add that you probably shouldn't visit this salon to buy hair products. I've been to Georgia several times, even after I noticed that nearly all of their products--including the above mentioned "Mixed Chicks"--are sold at Ricky's and Soon Salon for much less. Yet, I continued to buy products here because it was close to my apartment, and because the staff are very pleasant. However, after one of their products burned my scalp, I asked for an exchange. They denied it. I must've spent more than $300 here over the year. In my opinion, this is bad business. And I've been to haircare and skincare stores in the neighborhood who offer exchanges if you have a bad reaction, such as Prive and Dermalogica.

I've hair-hopped through every NYC salon that claims to have "curly" specialization. I'd been going to Ouidad, but tried Georgia as a cheaper option. The cut was pretty darn good, but the product selection, friendliness of staff, & atmosphere are great. AND they turned me on to the BEST hair products I've ever tried--"Mixed Chicks"! Plus, they have late hours, which I really appreciate. Hope they stick around for a while, & are able to keep paying the rent! :)

I was on my way home from whole foods one night last summer when I found myself drawn in to this shop by the most amazing smell. The place is beautiful - it has a kind of deconstructed charm that instantly made me feel at home. The girls that work there were super nice and told me all about the concept behind the store and showed me the salon. Before I knew it, I had been in there for an hour, chatting up the girls and scoping out the awesome products. It was just so chill in there and it smelled sooooo good - I didn't want to leave, so I booked an appointment for a cut right then and there. Fast forward to now: I have been getting my cuts, color and blowouts at Georgia for the past 10 months and my (epically uncooperative) hair has never been so happy. The head stylist there is Yusef and he is a master. Plus they're always playing really good music when I'm there.

I went to Georgia salon and found a beautiful space and an amazing array of products that are hard to find. Everything about my experience was great - until I got my hair styled. I went in for a blow dry. After my blow dry was done, the stylist offered me a free "trim". Flash forward and 3 inches of my hair were on the floor. I was devastated. He proceeded to tell me "I needed a cut and if I didn't like it to get extensions". This was two months ago and I am still dealing with trying to grow it out. My advice: go to Georgia for products but don't go there to get your hair done.
