RUDEST OWNER EVER

I bought a package which seemed amazing, 5 treatments for $90. I called to schedule an appointment and the girl kept putting me on hold to try and schedule all these treatments in one day. She didn't have anything at all for one saturday and in addition they were closed on Sundays and were only open until 6 on Weekdays...what about the working people? So after going back and forth with her the owner, LIA got on the phone and was extremely rude and obnoxious yell at me and saying "we can only schedule one treatment a day you will have to come back 5 times." Are you kidding? what's the whole point of a package? She was horrendous, i will never ever give them business.

Just Awful.

I can not begin to tell you how disappointed my friend and I were when we went to Lia Schorr for our "day of beauty". It was more like a day of rushed insults. Not only was I interrupted 3 times during my facial, (The lady kept going in and out and I could hear them chattering in the hallway.), but I was also coerced into buying products I did not want. The lady at the desk - who appeared to be in a daze - was very rude. I will NEVER go back here.

Rude reception, poor quality, non-relaxing experience

First, you have to get past a rude reception lady who is impatient. Upon going into a dimly lit room with your own facial chair, you'd thought for a minute that perhaps it'll be worth it despite what you've gone through at reception. Then come your facial masseuse/host who tries to sell you products/services throughout your whole massage, despite your firm polite refusal. The manicure and pedicure lady was better and let you enjoy the service in peace. Do not try to get makeup from them. They do not provide you with the service. They would send you up to their "class" where you'll get to be the guinea pig to get a makeup done by a student. It was so bad that I had to redo the makeup myself in the end for an event. Facial $90, manicure+pedicure $60. Facil+manicure+pedicure Package: $130.

stay away

lia schorr was rude, arrogant and has no manners. the spa look like a dental office and not the post "best manhatten spa" they claim to be. i got a hot stone massage without the hot stone. how ridiculous is that? if i pay for hot stones i want hot stone. the lady apoligized that the stones were not hot enough. but that is no excuse, she shouldnt have started in the first place. the facialist was decent but tried to convince me to go for more expensive facials or coerce me to go to a spa more often. then while i was on the chair covered in mask the manicurist comes in and puts a bowl on my stomach and proceed to do my nails. it was rushed and i didnt even get to pick my polish color. the two workers proceed to talk russian around me. when i left that place i vow never to come back. the owner demanded tips for her workers and told us exactly how much to give. unbelievable horrible service!

WORST SPA AND FACIAL EVER!!!

I couldnt concur more with the terrible reviews of this place. I made an appointment for a certain hour and was made to wait for half hour without explanation. When I asked the owner how long i would be waiting, she became obnoxious and rude - stating that I just came and that I have to understand her position. The fact that I had to take a $20 cab ride from down town to make it on time didnt really matter. The place looked like a doctor's office (no offense to doctor's at all - just thought a spa should be more serene). When I walked into the room, I waited another 15 minutes for my facialist to arrive. When she finally got there, she unceremoneously proceeded to put on masks on me for 15 min at a time and come in an out of the room (making so much noise that I couldnt even relax). The facialist BARELY laid her hands on me. And when she did, she was abusing my skin. I could have done a much better job with an at home treatment. This was simply an AWEFUL experience - from start to finish. Save your money and go somewhere else!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

My appointment started with a manicure where I observed the following: - Handbag was placed on floor when I asked for it to be placed in chair. Lack of client respect. - Nail polish colors were not labelled. - Towel on table was soiled and not changed. - Requested new tools to be used especially cuticle cutter; Was advised tools were clean; however, tools were taken from drawer and not a sterilized package. - Wooden tool contained other polish colors leading me to realize I was not informed correctly of clean tools. - Polish had to be removed once as technician smudged it. After manicure, I had to wait approx 10 min for a pedicure as only 2 tubs were in salon. Once available, the following occurred: - Chair contained holes in leather and a dirty towel covered it. I asked for a clean towel; was told it could not be replaced. - The basin was not scrubbed and sanitized before requesting I sit down. - While standing next to the chair, due to wet nails, I could not remove my sandal side buckle. The technician attempted to remove my shoe by pulling off from back strap which would have broken the sandal. At this point, I had enough. Enough of rude service, unsanitary conditions, and lack of client respect. I informed the front desk of above issues and I would not finish my service nor return to the salon. I was advised 'if this was my attitude the man upstairs would take care of it.'

Horrible Place

I seldom write reviews, but felt compelled after visiting this spa for a facial. Not only is the place filthy, but my facial consisted of a series of masks and very little actual work on my skin. Who wants to sit for an hour in a dirty room while listening to elevator music? On the few occasions that the aesthetician was actually in the room with me, she tried to sell me every product and service under the horizon. I have been getting facials consistently for thirteen years, and opted to try this place when I could not make it to my regular place. This was by far the worst facial I have ever had!

rushed service, good results

I have problem skin, t-zone w/ whiteheads/blackheads. I bought the special package of 6 facials. I love the seaweed mask because it's refreshing and soothes my skin after the rigorous cleaning done to my face, specially the zit cleaned. My skin has improved remarkably. The specialist is very nice, attentive and knowlegdeable. I was led to purchase "crystal peel" and so far my skin looks much better and smoother. The downside: service sometimes feel very rush because of the volume of clients she takes care, push to buy products by the receptionist and the owner, the purchasing is very rush for products and services (makes me feel like I will change my mind if they don't process the purchase fast enough), need to be extra attentive on the amount and how many left over visits I have. I purchased the products recommended. I specially love the mud clay mask and the spot treatment as well as the skin conditioner. My skin is less oily now and less acne.

After reading aweful reviews Lia's Schorr's not as bad as the critics stated. The staff was friendly; I was there for a massage, and was seen immediately. The massage therapist was professional and kind. The atmosphere was my one disapointment, since it did not have that "spa" feel to it, however I got a decent massage for $80.

Best Facial

My boyfriend bought me a gift certificate to The Lia Schorr Day Spa. Facials were not something that I usually get but since I am a singer/performer my skin takes a beating from all the makeup and the hot lights and I noticed that my skin began to break out and look dry and blotchy. I have been complaining about my skin, so my boyfriend was nice enough as well as smart enough to choose a spa that specializes in skincare. The Lia Schorr Day spa offers an amazing facial. Lydia was my facialist and I received a seaweed facial, oxygen boosting treatment and a crystal peel. She was very detail oriented and she really took the time to inform me how to better take care of my skin. It took about 2 hours and my skin looked amazing after. I was so grateful to my boyfriend that I bought him a facial and a massage. My boyfriend and I are hooked! I recommended the Lia Schorr Day Spa to all of my friends. I am, to say the least, a very happy and satisfied customer.
