I just completed my first sci-fi manuscript[GRIEVE], and the girly-girl in me bloomed up, demanding to be rewarded. perhaps this was due to the(ahem) non-girly state my body had dissolved to as i pulled it thru hades over the past two years trying to finish the book. I finally decided to check Oasis out, a bit nervously. I tell ya, people make all the difference in the world! The gal and two guys at the reception desk were some of the friendliest staff I've come across in nyc. it's not the deferring, "this is your slice of heaven" kind of nice which is the nyc norm(which I am all for btw...). It's FRIENDLY. Unassuming, "enjoying the day" kind of friendly that rubs off on you b/4 you go back out into the streets. I started small to test the waters..the deep salt rub. It was great. the young lady Yung(?) was knowledgable, & she gave me tips on how to make it last on both physical and mental/spiritual levels. And now I have reason become rich and famous and to make a fortune with the book: so i can have a Vichy shower in my master bathroom and standing appointments at Oasis. I am hooked!

I went for a facial thinking it would be divine but I have to say I was very dissapointed. The service was below average from the beginning with very rude staff members and an the facialist who was snappy. It was also the roughest extraction I've ever had! I left feeling like my nose would fall off and bruised the next day. I've gotten much better facials done uptown for 1/2 the price.

My wife and I have been going to Oasis Day Spa for years, and the service has absolutely plummeted. The latest $100+ Swedish massage I was supposed to have received was nothing more than an amateurish body rub that had no rhythm to it and inconsistent pressure throughout. I was afterward told by the manager that I should've cut the service short in the midst of it -- she's right, I should've -- and I was given a meager 20% off the service plus a 20% discount on a future service, which I will obviously never cash in on.

I have been a fan of Oasis for years now and have consistently had wonderful experiences. The reception staff is very warm and I love that they are not pushy with service upgrades or buying retail products. The relaxation area is just that, with teas and snacks and the spa is really clean. I have alternated between 3 different massage therapists over the years, and while each has their own touch I find each style equally enjoyable. Never had a facial but my girlfriend had one a couple of months ago and said her skin never looked or felt as good- I agree. I love that they have a sauna, and all the other amenities. I highly recommend Oasis, and cannot understand the other reviews here. It is also good that I get e-mail specials from them that lets me know when they are having sales on services. Great spa, my favorite in NYC.
