Not the relaxing experience I hoped for.
By npost11 on 12/21/2008
I was disappointed by this 'center' which is just a small waiting area and washroom (shared by several other offices on the floor) and the massage room. The massage room, which seems to double as Anne's office (not that tranquil environment expected during a massage) was on the lower level of the building so you hear the people walking around upstairs - along with the loud hum of the air conditioner in the room. The massage itself was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Anne was not the most friendly person and I felt like I was more of an imposition rather than a valued client.
Clinical-NOT a Spa

The environment did not meet my expectations but she did the job. After I got passed the basement ick feel, I relaxed. Overall the actual massage alleviated my discomfort.
Awesome prenatal massage
By curlymom63 on 1/5/2011
I have been to see a few prenatal massage therapists and Anne is absolutely the best by far. She has an amazing touch and knows how to treat pregnant women in a very special way. I have sent all my friends to see her and they all have loved her also. She works out of a medical services building on the upper westside and her office is quiet and cozy. I have loved the intimacy of her office and look forward to going back for future pregnancies.
Great Prenatal Massage!

My husband purchased a package for my birthday and I used all three sessions right away. Anne has a firm and soothing touch. She knew where all the spots that needed attention on my body were and used the perfect amount of pressure. She has years of experience working as a licensed massage therapist with pregnant women which is also comforting to me. I will be seeing her through the rest of my pregnancy for sure!

As a professional dancer I have had many massages throughout my life. Anne really knows what she is doing. I initially got her info through prenatal yoga on the uws. I went to her 5 years ago with my first pregnancy (with severe sciatica) and am now returning with my current pregnancy. I leave feeling relaxed in mind and body. I plan on going every week till I deliver!

Annie is amazing! I saw her through my pregnancies w my first two children, and she was one of the first people I called when we learned we were pregnant w baby #3 (the thought of regular massages w her was actually a great incentive to get pregnant!). I have found no spa, salon, etc... which offers a massage as wonderful and relaxing as Annie's. When pregnant, I feel my absolute best after one of Annie's massages. She is a wonderful person, and I can't recommend her highly enough. Enjoy!
Exactly what I needed!

I was referred to Anne Heckheimer by the Physical Therapy Department at the hospital where I will deliver my son. She was 1 of only 2 massage therapists recommended by my Physical Therapist for pregnant women with back problems. In general, I was reluctant about receiving a prenatal massage because it had taken a good amount of time to rectify my sacroiliac joint dysfunction (lower back problems) and I feared that a less-than-careful massage therapist could trigger more dysfunction. I was very pleasantly surprised by my massage with Anne Heckheimer. She is extremely professional and well trained. I trust her to do exactly what was needed for a pregnant woman, especially one with back issues. While her office is in a medical building (another reviewer complained about this), she turns the room into a spa atmosphere by playing soothing music and dimming the lights. I felt very relaxed during the massages -- even dozed off a couple of times! I have had many massages at spas but personally, I'd much rather have a massage in Heickheimer's office and completely trust the knowledge and skill of the massage therapist than go to a spa setting and receive a massage from someone who doesn't focus on intricacies of prenatal issues. I highly recommend a prenatal massage from Anne Heckheimer!
Excellent Prenatal Massage
By chelseamama on 1/17/2011
I went to Anne for an appointment toward the end of my second pregnancy and was delighted with her service. I have experienced many types of massage therapy and body work prior to this. It was clear from the first touch that Anne has a great deal of knowledge about massage and an understanding of what pregnant women need as well. Her office is cozy and feminine and spotlessly clean. The special body pillow that allows the pregnant woman to lie face down for back work was divine! I should note that one of my concerns during this pregnancy was that the baby was transverse (sideways) at the time of my appointment. While there was still time for him to turn head down on his own, I had read that prenatal massage can help with this. Anne worked on some reflexology points for turning the baby and showed me how to do them at home. The baby subsequently turned head down and I went on to have a very easy birth. I highly recommend Anne for prenatal massage.
Worth the trip from Westchester
By EPWestchester on 1/18/2011
I came to see Anne Heckheimer at her office on the upper westside at the suggestion of my friend. I live in Westchester so I was a little hesitant to make the trip. My friend had such a wonderful experience that I decided it might be worth the trip into the City. From the moment I walked into Anne's office I new I was in the right place. Anne's warm welcome and cozy office setting was very inviting. Anne has year's of experience working with pregnant women and felt confident that she could help alleviate my sciatica. I dozed in and out of a euphoric state during my massage. When I got off her table I felt rested, rejuvenated and best of all my back and hip felt better. It was worth the extra time traveling into the City to see Anne and I will probably do it again!
Perfect gift for my wife!
By NYCHappyHusband on 12/2/2011
I purchased a prenatal massage package for my wife's birthday and she said it was the best pregnancy gift I could have given her this year. It was an easy process setting up the gift certificate with Anne. My wife loves getting massage and said that going for her sessions has been the highlight of her pregnancy so far. She has used all three sessions and has signed up for more. She said that Anne is a highly skilled, knowledgeable and very compassionate prenatal massage therapist. She likes the personalized service she receives when she goes to her office.
