No Longer Shyou

  • No, I would not go back!

When I turned up for my appointment I was very surprised to learn that as of March, Shyou is no longer working at the salon that bears her name--that is obviously not the kind of thing I would have thought to ask about when I called to book, and I think that they should proactively inform longtime clients who have not been in in the intervening months. Furthermore, when I inquired about her whereabouts, they spoke about her in such a way that gave me the distinct impression that she was still affiliated with the salon and so I decided to go through with my appointment, assuming that Shyou would have left her place in good hands (i.e. with someone she trained). The treatment was okay, very relaxing, but things are simply not the same: You no longer get a massage from a separate person the whole time the facial is going on, and the aesthetician is definitely not as devoted to deep extractions as Shyou was. And then afterwards, I learned that Shyou does not own the place and is not in fact involved with the current management in any way. Overall, I'm just irritated about the bait and switch: Had I been informed of the actual situation, I probably would not have gone.

An experience NOT to be missed!!!

My visit to the salon was as enjoyable as it was practical and desperately needed. Shyou personally attends each client with friendly but serious energetic dedication and a long reference list of professional experience. Shyou has appeared in many fashion magazine spreads such as Vogue and Cosmo for her talents. Her ability to repair weatherworn and city smog damaged skin is the closest thing to the fountain of youth any woman (or man) in the Manhattan area have at their disposal. It's no wonder some regular clients make special trips to the city just to spend an hour and a half with Shyou. However, if you are interested in recreational care, which leaves a short-term result, then this treatment is not for you (although you are given an exquisite body massage during the facial). This recommendation should only be regarded by those who pay special attention to having healthy, resilient, lasting skin, keep in mind it is a dermatological procedure to restore and maintain the skin's natural radiance. This place is one of the best, kept secrets of Soho, which celebrities and healthy skin care enthusiasts alike are eager to keep to themselves.
