The movie actually does a better job with explaining the historical context of the Plot than I would have hoped for. What I can't understand some 60+ years after WWII is the notion that the members of this plot plus the other efforts to topple Hitler have to pass a "pro-Jewish" or "pro-Socialist" inspection. These men were officers in the Wehrmacht and placed the survival of Germany above the evil and inhumanity of Hitler. Their views on the "Final Solution" and who to make peace with were secondary to getting the Madman Hitler out of the driver's seat. They were the only group in Germany that had a chance to make a revolt successful.

A great action thriller to watch: the plot build up and story telling is perfect, and Tom Cruise's performance is very good. The story itself is new and interesting, but the director takes it one step further by getting you really emotionally involved
