It took an hour for our food to come. Two other tables that came after us finished their food before ours came. This was not addressed with comped items; we were still charged in full. The service is the dead spot of this place. The portobello mushrooms in my English breakfast win back a brownie point for this otherwise unfortunate experience.

I recently visited NY from Melbourne Australia and stubbled across 202 when searching for a decent coffee one morning. Coffee is to Melbourne as Pizza is to NY, so as you can understand, my coffee standards are quite high. I was presently surprised to find 202 on my quest. It took some time initially to order our coffees, but we were not disappointed when they arrived. I had a salmon bagel and my friend had Burcher muesli, both of which were delicious. It was relaxed and the old rustic tables were beautiful. 2 Thumbs up!

Adorable hostess, but the restaurant itself was Okay! Food was boring and bland (don't order eggs), the fried green tomatoes were better, as was the proscitto salad and burger, but way too many better places to go to eat.

We went to 202 for brunch. We had no trouble getting a table at 11:30; and there is something fun about eating in a boutique. I had the lamb burger with chickpea fries (both were great); my friend had the french toast (nothing special). I ordered the cheesecake--which was not cheesecake--because it looked and tasted like a piece of chocolate pie. Whatever it was, it was incredible (best that I have had outside of Paris). My friend ordered the Mexican chocolate soup, which was basically just melted chocolate ice cream. Not incredible. The bottom line, I guess, is that you should order what I had, not what my friend had.

After being recommended 202 from NY mag's best places to Brunch on NY day I can honestly say that 202 was one of the best places that I've eaten in NYC. The food was fantastic, the service great, a very chilled ambience & not a pretenious waiter in site (unlike our experience in Lupa the day before) Try the breakfast menu there, the Raspberry Pancakes were to die for. Highly recommend this place for any occasion. Thanks 202 for making our New Years day go off with a bang!

Yet another of the Annie Wayte-(London) inspired restaurants in New York, this one with the ambience of being somewhere in wine country, perhaps along the Rhone. The quality of the food is superlative, as it always is with this management, though refreshingly, dishes have a deliberate laid-back presentation to them consistent with the fact that Chelsea is NOT the same sophisticated neighborhood patronized by the cognoscenti as is the other Manhattan venture - people here sometimes come to chat over a drink, order take-away when the back door to the Chelsea Market corridor has access, even read/laptop/cellphone while at a table, play with youngsters they have trotted along, etc..The meals which I have had were excellent, and the prices reasonable. The staff is friendly and resonsive, though seems a tad unsure - I may have been mistaken, but it seemed as if the manager was actually training or coaching my server from his observation point during one meal while the restaurant was open. Definitely worth trying and coming back to! Perhaps, in time, the service will polish down to the "fine clockwork tuning" which regularly happens at their other longer-established venture.
