Best place to Lounge during a Snow Storm
By nicopharmd on 3/4/2010
We came in during the big snow storm of Feb 26th and found the place delightful. At first we were not appropriately attired but that was a quick fix. First time visitor to NYC and here I was...at the 21 Club. The burgers (aka Sliders) were wonderful: moist and very pink in the middle. Absolutely Delicious! Also cheaper to order them in the Lounge vs. the Bar. The toys on the ceiling of the Bar chronicle the deals made here over the years. We got a tour of the cellar with the 5 ton door with the secret lock, sat at the 20 person boardroom table and viewed private wine stocks of President Nixon to Burgess Meredith. Staff was attentive without hovering. I cannot wait to go back!
Fantastic Representation of Old World/Contemporary Culinary Treasure

The '21' Club never seizes to amaze me; with its superb waitstaff and impeccable menu, I am continuously intrigued by this wonderful culinary destination. The cuisine is delightful, with wonderful surprises and offerings to please most palates. The wait staff is attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant. Decor and ambiance have retained the classic touch, and are a pleasant addition to the experience. I recommend starting off with a classic drink, to toast to the start of a wonderful night; a sidecar or southside would be my first choice.
Romance and Fantastic Food

My boyfriend and I had dinner in the Upstairs at 21 last weekend. The food was incredible. We practically licked our plates as we savored every morsel of the lobster and black bass we ordered. The wine was equally delicious. As a native New Yorker and foodie, I have dined in a lot of lux NYC restaurants, but very few can top the Upstairs at 21 for exceptional, relaxed, and truly non-pretentious service. I will definitely be going back.
Are you crazy?

The people who do not like this place must be crazy. Everything is amazing. The food is superb and the staff makes you feel like a million bucks while you are there. The decor, by the way, is just an added bonus. It gives you a great feeling while you are there, and you cannot help but to be in a great mood! I love everything about this place and have no complaints so far!

Its sad to see so many hating on 21 club- it is a place of tradition and history in nyc. the atmosphere is what it is all about and while the prices are high... its a special place to go whether on business or for a special occasion. It is a treat to go to 21.

I went to 21 under the pretense of it being for an older, stuffy crowd, but was pleasantly surprised when my friends and I celebrated a birthday party there. The atmosphere is so fun and the service is unreal. We were treated like old friends. And the tour of the wine cellar was the pinnacle of the evening. I would definitely go back!
Can't Wait to Go Back!!!

I went here for my friend's 30th bday with 8 other people and we all couldn't stop smiling the entire night. The waitstaff treated us like we were the only table in the restaurant even though it was packed! I had the best meal I've had in such a long time...the tuna is incredible, and the crabcake as an appetizer was one of the best things I've ever tasted. I recommend trying the 21 sauce - such a nice touch. I can't wait to go back!!!

21 opened in 1929 as a speakeasy.(Actually the original speakeasy cellar with over 35000 bottles of wine is on 19 West 52nd, rather than 21,and it can be rented for special occassions.)Dependable service,(In Tuxedos,no less)Food is Americana Cuisine. You will feel like a "Big Wig" here while eating among the ghosts of Johnnie Walker,Joan Crawford,Richard Nixon,John Houston and others. Bring an empty stomach and a full wallet.!!

The cocktails were fantastic, the food was good, but it was the atmosphere that makes me want to go back. I love restaurants that can combine great food and drink with an experience that goes beyond eating. I have posted a review in pictures on my blog: http://www.little-ting.com/restaurants/2016/6/14/21-club-new-york

Even though it was a busy night, the service was exceptional. Chauncey was particularly helpful and extremely knowledgeable, he even brought champagne! Good food, great service and a wonderful staff.
