took me forever to get on here and write this review. was there at christmas time, 2009 in a party of 4. the history of the restaurant and its prestige is what makes it. the food is good, but not unreal. the service was really good, we had about 12 different guys serving us...all friendly and alert, some may not like that as you dont get that person feeling and youre just another table theyre trying to hurry along, but they were all very nice. it is unique and it is a nice atmosphere, could get annoying hearing the loud suites at the bar converting. its classy and im glad i can say i went there. the value though probably isnt worth it. it is pricey for what you get.

The '21' Club never seizes to amaze me; with its superb waitstaff and impeccable menu, I am continuously intrigued by this wonderful culinary destination. The cuisine is delightful, with wonderful surprises and offerings to please most palates. The wait staff is attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant. Decor and ambiance have retained the classic touch, and are a pleasant addition to the experience. I recommend starting off with a classic drink, to toast to the start of a wonderful night; a sidecar or southside would be my first choice.

My boyfriend and I had dinner in the Upstairs at 21 last weekend. The food was incredible. We practically licked our plates as we savored every morsel of the lobster and black bass we ordered. The wine was equally delicious. As a native New Yorker and foodie, I have dined in a lot of lux NYC restaurants, but very few can top the Upstairs at 21 for exceptional, relaxed, and truly non-pretentious service. I will definitely be going back.

The people who do not like this place must be crazy. Everything is amazing. The food is superb and the staff makes you feel like a million bucks while you are there. The decor, by the way, is just an added bonus. It gives you a great feeling while you are there, and you cannot help but to be in a great mood! I love everything about this place and have no complaints so far!

Its sad to see so many hating on 21 club- it is a place of tradition and history in nyc. the atmosphere is what it is all about and while the prices are high... its a special place to go whether on business or for a special occasion. It is a treat to go to 21.

After having heard such good things about 21 (and noting that it's a Critic's Pick here on nymag.com) I had elevated expectations that were not met. The service was terrible, the food was worse and the volume in the place was so loud we couldn't even enjoy our conversation. I'll never go back.

I went here for my friend's 30th bday with 8 other people and we all couldn't stop smiling the entire night. The waitstaff treated us like we were the only table in the restaurant even though it was packed! I had the best meal I've had in such a long time...the tuna is incredible, and the crabcake as an appetizer was one of the best things I've ever tasted. I recommend trying the 21 sauce - such a nice touch. I can't wait to go back!!!

I went to 21 under the pretense of it being for an older, stuffy crowd, but was pleasantly surprised when my friends and I celebrated a birthday party there. The atmosphere is so fun and the service is unreal. We were treated like old friends. And the tour of the wine cellar was the pinnacle of the evening. I would definitely go back!
