Admittedly, it's been a few months since I've last eaten at 44, but from what I remember the food was good, honest cooking. Light, yet flavorful, my seared scallops were just what one would expect to find in a stylish dining room such as the one at 44. Perhaps we've been spoiled, but restaurants like 44 just seem so common in this culinary paradise that we call home.

The staff is attentive, knowledgable and fun. The food is great because it is dishes Mom would have made if she had been a good cook. We had the pork tenderloin (tender and flavorful) and the ravioli (amazing flavor). Go after the theater crowd has left.

...of the gas station. Though I don't understand all the white surfaces (which make the room too bright), or the giant mirror on the wall (reflects the gas station across the street), the food is delicious (though some dishes are too pricey) and the service is relaxed and friendly. The blue crab claw fritter appetizer is huge and chock full of meat, the pork and halibut are excellent entrees and the butter they serve with the bread is reason enough for a return visit. Oh, and try the apple martini, very good and not too sweet.

Comfort food delight. Great pre and after theatre restaurant. Service warm and friendly. Macaroni and cheese, so warm and comfortable. Lobster dishes prepared as a Taco, and a salad, delightful. Salads, big and healthy, especially the Mediterranean Chopped salad.

Average food, a bit reaching at times. Borders on precious, which may be a good thing for certain diners, but not for this one. Good brunch, however.

One might be lead to think from some of the other reviews that they have had a phenomenal experience at 40&X. Maybe they did. Not so the case with my friends and me. Our waiter and did as little as possible as he could. No introductions, no recommendations, and had to ask about specials. Thank God for an ambitious busperson that refilled our water, got us more bread, and able to get us new fork when one fell. Just so much attitude amongst the waitstaff and idle gossipy chatter (seemingly about the customers), that not worth eating their great food. It was as if they were doing customers a service by taking orders, serving, and cleaning up. Somewhat pricey for view (headlights from gas station across the street). The chairs are artsy but uncomfortable. The nicest thing about place was tasty food, although questionable ingredients. Oh yeah, bathroom was quite elegant. Just don't read health report prior to going! (lotsa droppings).

went to brunch on sat. afternoon with girlfriends. the food was decent at best. i had huevos rancheros. portion size is good. they must have given me 5 eggs or so. my friends had the eggs benedict and the crabcake. the eggs benedict was nothing to write home about and the crabcake was not tasty. the interior decor is nice but it's quite loud inside. all in all i felt like the food and ambience was that of a scaled-up diner. the most disappointing part of the experience was the service. the busperson spilled water all over the table and didn't give us a napkin to wipe it up (although he should have wiped it up himself). we asked three times and finally got one. water spilled onto our butter so we asked that it be changed. he took the metal jar of butter, shook the water off and placed it back on our table! a celebrity was dining there as well, so all the wait staff grouped together fraternizing and chatting about the actress. rest of the customers seemed peeved also. if the food isn't going to be great at least have decent service.

My friends and I (4 women) try a new restaurant almost every month. Dined here last summer ('06). Had a wonderful meal and lots of fun. Almost considered missing our show! Crab Fritter is heavenly and huge (enough for 2). Sea Bass is cooked to perfection. Chocolate soufle is incredible. Then there are the waiters!!! Four women on girls nite out with the cutest, friendliest waiters and bartenders (especially Tyler, if he's still there). What more could a girl ask for?
