Warm welcoming neighborhood gem with a hip downtown feel! Who said the Upper East Side was old, tired and boring? 83 1/2 is an amazing restaurant with a creative menu having interesting Sicilian touches - no you won't find chicken parm here but you will find a fried veal Milanese but served over fregola with a tonnato sauce or wild sea bass served with grilled ramps - or maybe not because Vincenzo is dedicated to using fresh, seasonal, local ingredients and the menu changes often The stuzzuchini are amazing little bites of goodness - arancini, homemade ricotta, caponata - all a nod to Vincenzo's Siciluan roots and a fabulous bargain at 3 for $13. Perdect for sharing and there are so many to choose from you could easily make a delicious and varied meal trying a bunch of them. All the pastas are handmade in-house and the combinations are a far cry from spaghetti al pomodoro. Vincenzo, the owner, is a classically trained chef-owner who will make you feel like family from the moment you sit down to the fabulous bread and Italian hummus to the gift of house-made limoncello he will pour to top off your meal. Can't wait to see what's on the menu at our next visit.

Wonderful neighborhood gem. The NY Mag reviewer got it right-- the starter dishes are wonderful. And the food features fresh ingredients deliciously prepared. Definitely going back.
