We walked in on a rainy, cold Spring afternoon before going to the BAM. The first round of boutique soda, draft beer and corn was great even though the corn was cool which I thought was so the Cotijo cheese would not melt. People and ambiance were friendly. We had time for another round, and instead of another corn I tried the steak taco. If we hadn't gotten into intense conversation with the next table, I would have returned it. It was an abomination. Taco was totally cold; around 4 tiny little pieces of overcooked tough cold meat, mixed in with a few leaves filled about one-third of a 5" thin limp tortilla. The $3.50 charge for this was outrageous. Would go back for corn and beer only.

I haven't yet had the pleasure of dining at this spot (had to put in a food rating anyway or else this wouldn't be published), but I wanted to write a shout out to the owners. I accidentally parked on the street in front of their driveway thinking it was a normal street parking spot. I am new in town as they could see from the Cali plates. Instead of having my car towed (as many places would) they kindly wrote a note asking me to move my car and gave me at least a day before I noticed it. I can't wait to eat at this lovely looking place and thank them in person!! Their new neighbor, LG
Good food, drinks and nice patio but not worth the cover...
By DaveS on 5/25/2010
We love this spot it has some good food, their beer is reasonably priced and they have one of the nicest patios in Fort Green. However they have instituted a $10 cover, which for my money is just not worth it. We'll be back when they come to there senses.
The symbol of summer!
By supremeuser02 on 4/25/2010
When I think of summer in Brooklyn, I think of Habana Outpost. It's not just the tasty food and special outdoor schoolyard feel, but the general aesthetic/vibe of the whole surrounding Fort Greene block that intensifies the summer spirit. Everyone's in a great mood, the sun is almost always shining, bikes and style and youth surround you. Only problem: Expensive! But it might be worth it.

In the summer, this is a great place to go to have a drink. As the other reviews say, the food is not great, although the corn is the one exception. The frozen mojitos and margaritas are what bring me and my friends in. Plus they use a rainwater recycling system in the bathroom and it's a great outdoor space in Ft. Greene.
Best outdoor summer drinking in Brooklyn
By Linze26 on 8/15/2009
On a pleasant summer evening, there's nowhere else I'd rather be. It can get a bit crowded if you're set on a table, but there's always elbow room. The general vibe is laidback, and the decor and setup are inviting. The slushie mojitos and margs seem wrong, but taste delicious. And cups of beer are only $3, which isn't too shabby for the city.
Good for drinks. That's it.

The frozen margaritas here are great. The food is terrible. Also, contrary to what the review says, this place is not laid back. It's thumping. They have live DJs. Go for a drink, the music and the fun.

went there recently to eat and was sick for 3 days with stomach pains. decided to look them up with the department of health and mental hygiene. 94 violations on 5/19/2009 and 64 violations on 4/30/2009. after looking into what they were for. My God!!!! I am lucky I am alive. improper personal hygiene, improper cooking, cross contamination, rats fecule, food from unapproved sources. and many more... look them up.
