Bizarrely rude service

Ate at Lunetta this evening for my mother's birthday. I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to do so, as the lack of friendly service this evening was so completely off putting and was enough to ruin what could have been a pleasant meal. Seems to me that a friendly waitstaff is the easiest thing a restaurant can do to offer guests a nice experience...for some reason that seems to be completely unimportant to this restaurant.

We love the ricotta bruschetta, the orecchiette, the fried chicken, the meatballs. Sit at the kitchen bar to watch the chefs at work.

I usually go in a group and we order an assortment of appetizers so we can try as many as possible. I highly recommend the bruschetta, especially the white anchovy & butter variety. For your main course don't miss the orecchiette. Or the meatballs.

My boyfriend and I went to Lunetta on a cold, damp drizzly night. We walked in and right away we felt warm, cozy and welcom. We were greeted by a lovely hostess and our waitress was so disarming and happy which put us in a better mood right away. We sat down on the banquette. With a tilt of our heads we could see the chefs busily but calmly cooking in the kitchen. We cozied up to our respective drinks, me my wine and him his beer, and delved into the amazing brussel sprouts fried in the most amazing anchiove honey vinegar sauce for our starter. He then ordered the steak and me the chicken with an order of mashed butternut squash. To top it off we ordered the flour less chocolate cake (boca negra) which was sweet but not too sweet. All was just so nice and the total dining experience was delightful. The meal was autumnal and unassuming, delicious and light. I had a great time and highly recommend it.

Overpriced and overrated

The signature cocktails were too sweet (and expensive for Brooklyn at $11 a pop) and service was sub par. The bill came out to be $75 per person for some shared bruschetta, wine and a (small) entree per person. It seemed a bit expensive for a place that won't give you a clean fork and spoon between courses.

A Lovely Surprise!

We did not have a reservation, so we waited for a seat at the "bar" along the open Kitchen and decided to eat there. The service was terrible in the beginning (the hostess was nervous, uncomfortable and rude - taking phone calls and adding people to the waiting list while we, and others, were lined up waiting to speak to her - we were not the only ones that had to complain). But the food, was really , quite amazing and put us at such ease. Watching the kitchen, we began to get excited about what to order - the food looked amazing, we sampled several appetizers, each delicious. And then moved on to their perfectly made pasta. The food was well seasoned, well cooked, simple and flawless. What a lovely surprise. I recommend not only the restaurant, but sitting at the bar with the opportunity to see how all this amazing food is made!

I must have Lunetta's delicious, fresh fare at least every other week. If there's ever a reason to eat carbs it's Lunetta's Carbonara. Drinks won't disappoint either... best 'Ol Fashioned' ever. Service is fantastic as well.

Overall, the small plates here are the best. And definitely get the meatballs!
