Go a La Turka
By brocklanders on 3/4/2012
Even though the place was half-crowded, the wait staff was prompt if occasionally unprofessional. The lamb yogurt kebab was delicious, as were the stuffed grape leaves. Made for a great second date.

Dreadful experience! I bought Living social deal $100 for $50. You'd think: "nice deal". Nowhere in description it says limitations apply. When came to A La Turka to redeem LivingSocial deal we were handed a "special" menu which had a very limited low priced items selection from a regular menu. My deal included two appetizers, two entrees, one bottle of wine and 2 deserts. I ate at this place many times before and do know the size of their portion and let me tell you – Living Social deal portions were half the size. We were rushed to eat our dinner and because of that didn't have enough time to finish our wine. Wine glasses were cleaned of the table and I wanted to take my wine (paid for by me!) home and was told in a very rudely fashion;"no". It got into a very unpleasant argument with the manager when he took half bottle of wine I paid for and walk away saying to me:"Never come back!" Basically, steeling my wine! I could see them disagreeing on caring wine away but at least they could poor wine in glasses, letting us finish it. I was very disappointed and as I was handing to them my credit card to pay taxes on my total, expressed desire not to pay gratuity as I find the service terrible and… . I was charged 18% gratuity on a very poor service against my will. It is an abuse! From Marriam -Webster dictionary Definition of GRATUITY : something given voluntarily or beyond obligation usually for some service; especially : tip

This is a responce for tranvia30, it's clear that you'd been in a wrong place because the description that you gave about the food is not correct. They always prepare the food daily and fresh. It is a 5star restaurant and I have never been disappointed with the service or food they serve. I go there every week for family occasions or to conclude some business. Everybody that I took there have been satisfied and taken care of.
Noise, Chaos, Bad Service,
By tranvia30 on 2/16/2010
Noisy and chaotic. Service was awful. Our waiter insisted on reciting the menu in Turkish to someone over his Blackberry, as he stood next to us -- result long wait for our appetizer and main course, which arrived cold. Lamb shank was both cold and tough, like somebody put it in the microwave and then let it sit on a counter for half an hour. We shall NOT return.

this restaurant is a great family restaurant with delicious food (soo much selection, something for everyone!) at unbelievable prices (for the UES)!! the waiters are very attentive and kind. our food was truly delicious - and i'm 100% turkish!! would definitely recommend the place - although it's not romantic, more like a casual, catch-up with friends and family type place.
