I took a client to dinner here and I regret my choice of restaurant. The people are nice and the restaurant has a modern flair to it without being cold. Our appetizers were awful. I had a mushroom dish that was chewy, looked slapdash and maybe totaled a single mushroom stem - it was that spartan. A chicken entree was so undercooked that it wasn't edible. My client's ricotta was swimming in olive oil and blobs of cheese - she opted to not have an entree. We were so hungry, we went for a burger across the street at the Shake Shack. There are so many restaurants in the city that try harder and are better values.

Although the wines are up to $ 7,500 more than 50% are under $ 90. One has not to spend excessively to enjoy quality like Barolo or Barbera del Monferrato. For my Branzino al vapore (steamed striped bass with tuscan kale, sunchokes and truffles) I prefer instead a Gavi di Gavi (Volpi) and can enjoy him even when the chocolate custard with Sicilian pistachios and sea salt arrives.

Had a wonderful experience at A Voce on Saturday night. We were seated on our reservation right when we arrived even though our entire party was not yet there. The sommelier was very helpful and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful Barbera D'Alba, however the white list was lacking if you're not a Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay fan. All the appetizers were incredible. I would go back just for the grilled octopus. All in all the portions were perfect and delicious. The only negative was a ringing cell phone right next to me throughout the entire meal. Our tables were a little close for comfort!

i really don't know where all these negative reviews are from. I've eaten at a voce on two occasions and the food is always amazing and the service always polite and prompt. i've dined with large groups both times i've been there and they were more than accomidating.

The food was good, not great, and it was definitely overpriced. They also didn't allow us to bring our own wine (and charge a corking fee) which always seems dubious to me. It was a special occasion and I brought a particular wine that my girlfriend likes. It was disappointing. I wouldn't go back because of how expensive it is.

Before I even sat down I was turned off by A Voce. The maitre d', a tacky little self-important man, scolded me for being late for my reservation, even though I had called to notify the restaurant and they told me it would be fine. And honestly, I don't know why all the drama because there were at least 5 open tables inside and a million open tables outside. Needless to say, we were seated right away. The service was decent and my husband had a very good pasta dish, the rigatoni, but other than that I was not impressed with A Voce. There are so many better places you can go for dinner. I wonder sometimes if NY Mags food critics have some kind of compromised relationship with the restaurants they review. I wholeheartedly disagree with their review of A Voce. Don't waste your time here. You can do so much better.

I was surprised by how easily I made a reservation at this "highly rated" restaurant for a Thursday night only a day in advance. But, after eating here the reason became obvious. This restaurant had the ambiance and service style of a Dos Camino chain. The wait staff was friendly enough, but our waiter was running around between tables and never near when needed. I have never eaten at a restaurant where the food was so overly salted that it was rendered inedible. Most likely used to cover up for the lack of inspiration. A Voce needs to find its voice!
