The space, multiple levels plus terrace dinning give this deluxe French a prominent position in the Upper Westside. Either the ala Carte menu or the prix fix menus provide interesting combinations. The service is uneven and the overall experience is marginal Lastly the wine list is over priced by a factor of 2.

Make those reservations early, it worth it. The food is interesting, our waiter was great, the sommelier recommended a reasonably priced wine, the upstairs room is lovely. So what's wrong? The manager at the reservations desk was rude and obnoxious. Get rid of him and the experience is worth the price.

What's all the fuss about? AIX is slick and stylish, and the food is very good, especially the lobster with sweet corn and bacon mashed potatoes, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Our waitress was efficient, but after the meal the bus boys asked for our napkins while we were finishing our drinks and talking. A clear indication that our time was up and we should leave. We could only get a 6:45PM reservation the night we were there, and by the time we left, 8:15PM the restaurant was still half empty. What was the rush to get us out? Too many good restaurants in NYC to take the rudeness of this one in stride.

Based on a superb meal at the now defuct Virot, I reserved at Aix early on and was deeply disappointed. Had the pistou with sardines and found it unpleasant on every level an ultimately inedible. Nothing we tasted was well-prepared and certainly not of star chef calibre. Service was inattentive and unconcerned with half-eaten plates. Could not believe the ensuing accolades. Maybe it was a bad night?

Want a wonderful way to spend an evening? Dine at Aix. Beautiful decor on multi-levels, attentive service, (water glasses always filled), and delicious food at reasonable prices can't be beat. Try the tomato tart. It will bring you back to sunny Provence. No attitude here, just a good time.

One of the best new spots in NYC! A perfect balance of sophistication without trying too hard. Relaxed but attentive service and a very reasonably priced wine list that perfectly complemented the incredible food. Go late if you can't get a reservation!

I entered half expecting a version Ouest, but was so splendidly surprised that we've made reservations for Valentine's Day also. My favorite perk was having the glass of wine poured at the table, but everything I ate was spectacular from the tomato appetizer to the lamb entree (yummy Moroccan theme there) to the hazelnut souffle! Even the capuccino was delish!
